There was an altercation in an Elite Premier League netball fixture.

Suspensions have been handed down by the Elite Premier League netball competition following an altercation between Gold Coast Titans and Bond University development players on Friday night.

A Titans player has been handed a two-week suspension for her involvement in the altercation, while the Bond player involved was given one-week.

The incident occurred in the penultimate round fixture between Gold Coast Titans Yellow and Bond Bull Sharks Development Pathways sides and resulted in both players being sent off.

The two-week suspension means the Titans player will miss the first week of finals in the competition.

The match was held at Mt Warren and Titans Yellow prevailed 45-32.

Titans declined to comment on the incident, while Bond University issued this masthead a brief statement on Sunday afternoon.

“Our immediate priority is the welfare of the Bond athlete who was struck during a match on Friday night,” a Bond Sport spokesman said on Sunday.

“We have submitted our report to the Southern Netball A-League Committee and look forward to any measures that may be taken to ensure a safe playing environment for all athletes.

The Elite Premier League is an independently run netball league.

Netball Queensland isn’t affiliated with the league but said it was aware of the incident.

The Elite Premier League did not respond to this masthead’s request for comment and clarity around its judicial process.
