Livestream of Sunday's Queensland Water Polo Junior Country Championships (WPQ Country Championships)

We’ve live-streamed the finals of the Queensland Junior Country Water Polo Championships from St Andrew’s Anglican College. CATCH THE REPLAYS

A total of 26 teams from all over Queensland have descended on the Sunshine Coast for the inaugural Queensland Water Polo Junior Country Championships.

Teams from Noosa, Buderim, Kawana, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Peregian and Cairns competed from ages 11 to 18.

All finals matches on Sunday were live-streamed by The Courier-Mail, the Sunshine Coast Daily, Gold Coast Bulletin and News Corp affiliates.

2.10pm – U18 Girls Gold Medal Match

2.45pm – U12 Mixed Bronze Medal Match

U18 Girls Gold Medal Match: Noosa v Kawana

U12 Mixed Bronze Medal Match - Kawana/Gold Coast vs Buderim


The U12 Mixed bronze match had it all as two heavy hitting teams battled it out in the water.

Kawana/Gold Coast were the favourites and they made it known throughout the match, leading every quarter.

Buderim however did not leave anything to chance, and were hot on their tails through the thrilling encounter.

It was a high scoring affair, with Kawana/Gold Coast taking out the bronze match 8—6.


U12 MIXED GOLD MEDAL MATCH 3-20PM - St Andrew’s A vs St Andrew’s B


It was a local derby in the U12 mixed gold medal match as St Andrew’s fielded an A and B team in the water polo champs.

The B team were methodical with their plays as they had several calculated goals throughout the first three quarters.

Their defensive and offensive presence was evident throughout the match as they fought wholeheartedly against their classmates

Some late goals by the A team kept them in the hunt, however the B team ran away with the team 5—3.

3.55pm –U16 Girls Gold Medal Match - St Andrew’s vs Kawana

A late game run from the Kawana U16 girls side has secured them gold in the Queensland Water Polo Junior Country Championships.

It was neck and neck through the entire game, with the lead teetering between St Andrew’s and Kawana in each quarter.

Kawana’s run of goals in the last quarter from the Lucinda McCann and Claire McCulloch helped them run away with the game, winning 10—6.

4.30pm –U18 Boys Bronze Medal Match - Gold Coast vs Noosa

The Gold Coast U18 Boys held on for close game against Noosa, with the two Coast sides battling it out for supremacy in the pool.

Gold Coast raced ahead at the start of the match, taking a competitive lead of 4-1.

Noosa however brought the heat and had a late resurgence, equalling the score to 7-7 by a superb goal from Harry Colley.

Gold Coast had the last laugh however with a goal from Will Cassar sealing the win for the away team, winning 8-7.

5.05pm – U18 Boys Gold Medal Match - Kawana vs Noosa

The U18 Boys gold medal match saved the best for last as spectators were treated to an electrifying final game of the tournament.

A blast of wild and wet weather at the beginning of the match didn’t dampen the resolve of Noosa and Kawana as they competed for gold.

It was an even affair in the first three quarters, but Noosa was able to strike hard and fast, and shot out to a 7—4 lead.

Kawana fought back to bring the score line to 7—7, bringing parents and friends out of their seats in the stands.

It was a late goal by Noosa that sealed the deal however, as they hung on to win 8—7.
