Queensland schoolgirls rugby flyer Tekainga ‘TK’ Enkera-Raveora has helped the Queensland Indigenous and Pasifika Under-18 girls make a monster statement on the opening day of the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival.

The tournament newcomers kicked off their weekend with a 44-5 win over last year’s grand finallists AU Superstars on Field 5.

Enkera-Raveora was at the centre of the eight-try demoltion, with the flashy fullback crossing for four of her own while winger Nikeisha Ngaru and inside centre Anica Williams also grabbed tries.

The win made it two-from-two for the Queensland Indigenous and Pasifika side, who had earlier led Nations United NQ 29-0 before a serious injury brought an early end to the contest.

The injury delay, with officials forced to wait hours for an ambulance, caused several scheduling changes to the action on field five, with matches moving to later in the day.

The scheduling issues did not impact the Queensland Fiji under-14 girls who knocked off the Au Superstars 14-7 in the afternoon.

Queensland Barbarians and Queensland Royals played out a thrilling 5-5 draw in the Under-16 boys tournament, with bench utilities Craig Thaggard (QB) and Harrison Humphreys (QR) making the most of their opportunities on field to score.

The Pacific Youth Rugby Festival will play host to tournament newcomers Queensland Indigenous and Pasifika, Nations United North Queensland and Territorian raiders All Nations Rugby NT.

Meanwhile tournament regulars Queensland Kiwi, AU Superstars and Gold Coast Tonga have expanded their efforts across most ages and divisions.
