It was a tough opening day for the interstate raiders, Oatley Rhinos, as they suffered two heavy defeats at the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival.
The Rhinos failed to land a blow in either their Under-12s clashes, which both featured on Field 3 on Friday.
The Rhinos were blown off the park 58-0 by an impressive Queensland Barbarians side, with Nicholas Lindner, Raphael Wilson and Jimi Waldron all grabbing doubles for the BaaBaas.

The Rhinos day would go from bad to worse later, when the AU Superstars Under-12 side put 53-unanswered points on them.
Forwards Ezra Su’A and Owen McKinely both scored doubles for the AU Superstars while subsitute Lorenc Nulesi also crossed for two tries.
The Oatley Giants Under-14 boys got one back for the NSW-based club when vice-captain Abraham Tohme crossed for a double in a 39-12 win over the AU Superstars.
Robust No. 8 Deon Haynes also got across for a double for the Giants.

The Nations United NQ girls endured mixed results on field three on Friday with the club’s Under-18 side falling to AU Superstars in a gripping 15-12 loss, while the Under-16 side reversed the fortunes to run out 15-5 winners over the green and golds.
NQ skipper Bella Canning scored an important try inthe win, while Tiffany Carney and Emma Healey also got across the stripe.

Interstate visitors Oatley will be looking to get their Pacific Youth Rugby Festival campaign off to a flying start on Field 3 on Friday.
The club from Sydney’s south-eastern suburbs has been a regular visitor to this competition over the past couple of years and, for the first time, have sent two teams north in search of a maiden title
Both will be featuring on a big program of matches on Field 3.

The Pacific Youth Rugby Festival will play host to tournament newcomers Queensland Indigenous and Pasifika, Nations United North Queensland and Territorian raiders All Nations Rugby NT.
Meanwhile tournament regulars Queensland Kiwi, AU Superstars and Gold Coast Tonga have expanded their efforts across most ages and divisions.
