A perfect performance from one of the competition’s best shooters led Oakdale to another victory on Friday night over South Adelaide. Watch the REPLAY here.

A blistering front-half display from Oakdale shooter Asha Thurlow led her side to a strong victory over South Adelaide on Friday night.

Thurlow, one of the Netball SA Premier League’s best shooters, was at her best in the round 4 match-up and finished with more individual goals of her own than the entirety of the South side combined.

Thurlow finished with 49 goals in the 61-46 win which began with a monster first-half where she scored 27 goals.

She also had more goals at the long-break than South Adelaide (26).

The victory was Oakdale’s fourth in a row and extended their unbeaten run to start 2025.

After leading by just four goals at halftime, Oakdale exploded in the second-half with a monster 31 goals to 20 across the third and fourth quarters.

South Adelaide pair Bianca Drum (25) and Jessica Paradiso (20) shared the spoils in defeat.

In the reserves clash, it was South Adelaide that walked away with a 54-39 win over Oakdale.

A new-look Oakdale side has started the Netball SA Premier League season 3-0 and will look to extend that run on Friday night when it takes on 2024 runner-up South Adelaide.

The club has finished just outside of the top four in consecutive seasons but has produced the perfect start this year after the additions of promising Tasmanian duo Charlotte Walker and Ellie Marshall.

The Oakdale and South Adelaide clash will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 7pm with both the reserves and Premier League matches.

Wins against Tango, Metro Jets and Newton Jaguars have Oakdale dreaming of a finals return but coach Tara Gallarello said the team still had areas to work on ahead of its clash with the Panthers.

“We can’t be disappointed with our record but we also probably haven’t played a complete game yet,” she said.

“We’ve won games with new players coming in and a couple injuries and it’s positive that we have been able to get results while trying to incorporate the new girls and shuffle things around.

“Our four-quarter effort is just where we’re lacking a bit and we know with some strong teams coming up on our fixture we need to be at our best and maintain a balance on the court for full games.”

South Adelaide has had the opposite start to its 2025 season after falling just short of a premiership in 2024, losing three games to Contax, Garville and Matrics.

Gallarello said the Panthers would be eager to notch their first win and believed her side would need to be at its best to overcome the challenge.

“We know they’re a very talented and determined side.

“We have to be prepared to play our best for four quarters … we know they’ll be tough.

“We’re going to have a couple players unavailable so we will be giving some other girls opportunities but we know they have a couple missing as well.”

Oakdale finished just three points below fourth spot Matrics last season and a 4-0 start this year would have the club well on its way to make amends for missing finals.

Gallarello said the team was excited for the opportunity to extend its streak.

“We’ve been sitting in that fifth spot for a few years now so there is a lot of hunger to get back to finals.

“It certainly plays on the mind of some of these girls, getting back to finals and experiencing that level.”
