This Saturday will see thousands flock to the Pine Rivers Netball association for the State Age Netball Championships years 12-14.

First netball memory: heading down to the grass courts on a beautiful Queensland winters day with my teammates.
Favourite thing about the sport: The comradery between teammates and coaches. You get more back than you give.

Favourite player: Queenslander and former Australian captain Gabbi Simpson and of course my daughter.
Downey Park Netball Association U14
Captain: Rebecca Arnold
First netball memory: U8’s. There was this moment where I was in the middle of the court shouting my teammates name who had the ball, and yelling, “pass it to me.” My dad used to always tell me to call for the ball really loudly, so that’s what I did, and that moment was captured by a photo. The photo was posted on my clubs social media pages that weekend then followed across all of WDNA social media sites. This moment was hard to forget as the club used it to promote the club and registration the following year.
Favourite thing about the sport: It’s so much fun. I love competitiveness. When you step across the white line it is game on. I love meeting new people and developing new friendships.
First Club: Rangers at Western Districts Netball Association.
Current Club: Raiders at DPNA
Favourite player: Liz Watson because of how dynamic she is, her calmness in competition and strong mentality. Also Courtney Bruce because of her physicality and as a captain who leads from the front and gives 100%.

First netball memory: Learning to play netball with my sister Nina when I was in Grade one. We still play most days.
Favourite thing about the sport: I love the friendships I have made through netball, specifically our community in Townsville. I enjoy training hard and developing new skills.

Watson is an 18-year-old who moved from the Sunshine Coast to Townsville to study at James Cook University. At such a young age, Watson has moved to a new town and committed to coaching a representative team.

First netball memory: A Friday morning at school when I was in Grade three. My big sister was training with her Grade five team and they were short a player so I subbed in as goalkeeper.
Favourite thing about the sport: It’s alway competitive because each team gets the same number of chances to score a goal—usually.
I also love the netball community involved.

Favourite player: Gretal Bueta. She’s incredible. In my rep team Zoe and Matilda because we can predict where we are going so that makes moving the ball from defence to attack really fun.
In my club team I love playing with Noku because she is a gymnast— she can really fly around and Maddy because she is super tough and gutsy.

First netball memory: When I was playing GS with my best friend as GA and I scored my first goal. Then we kept shooting goals one after another and everyone had to tell us that you can only have one shot at a time—whoops.
Favourite thing about the sport: It’s a super fun way to keep fit and make lifelong friends

First netball memory: I remember when I first played netball it was such a great feeling to be part of and work within a team.

Favourite player: Tippah Dwan. I love her confidence as a shooter for the Adelaide Firebirds. Also my teammate Tess Bath. I love her grit, determination and powerful passes.
