While the night ended in elimination for two teams, Contax are thriving as they seal an impressive double division win to make th Reserves and Premier grand finals. All replays from Friday night are now available to watch.

If you thought you were tuned into a heated grand final clash, you’d be forgiven.

It was a semi final battle with the feel of a huge grand final clash.

Two points were all that separated rivals Contax and Matrics as the reigning premiers secured their spot in the grand final once again with a 56-54 point win.

The competition favourites and ladder leaders asserted their dominance early, running away with the first quarter 17-10.

Fast-forward to midway through the third quarter and the lead had blown out to 15.

Garville stepped it up immediately in the race to the finish and would not go away, pestering Contax for the next 15 minutes.

Outstanding off-ball work saw the second-placed side create more turnovers leading to goal scoring opportunities as the margin continued to narrow.

Contax would just hold on by pressuring plays through the middle and causing just enough chaos on defence to keep Garville at bay.

Goal shooter Sophie Agostino was on fire leading all goal scorers with 32 points.

It’ll be an anxious wait as Contax stand by to see if they will face their red-hot rivals again in two weeks in the grand final.

 Matrics v Oakdale (Premier)

Thrillers were the theme of the night, as Matrics held off a fighting Oakdale 55-50 in the dying minutes of their semi final clash.

Just two points separated the pair at half time.

Speed, pace and the use of the baseline to their advantage proved pivotal in Matrics holding onto the lead.

The perennial heavyweights were powered on by their scorers in the third quarter who shared the load evenly.

Gabrielle Binks finishing with 29 goals while Emily Sibley complimented nicely with 26.

Oakdale goal shooter Asha Thurlow gave her best efforts to keep her side in it, leading all scorers with 34 goals of her own.

Matrics will now take on an in-form and hungry Garville side in the preliminary final while Oakdale are now eliminated after a solid season.

Contax v Matrics (Reserves)

Contax have proven exactly why they’re the favourites to claim the crown in 2025, taking down rivals Matrics 60-38.

It is the largest loss Matrics have faced all season.

It was a test of will-power for the second-placed Matrics who were down double-digits at the first break.

A determined second quarter saw both teams find their rhythm as Matrics shaved the lead down to just eight.

Contax shut the door completely, asserting their dominance in the second half of the game and winning the final quarter on an 18-4 run.

The injection of Lara Mullins into wing defence proved a huge factor for Contax as she provided the extra pressure right when her side needed it.

Matrics will have a second chance to sneak through to the big dance, as they take on Garville in the preliminary final next week.

South Adelaide v Garville (Reserves)

Garville live to fight another day, taking down South Adelaide 55-43 in the elimination semi final.

It was a story of two halves as the fourth-placed Garville stepped up to the challenge.

Despite a number of unforced errors in the first half, Garville took over the third quarter handling the ball with perfection.

Goal shooter Annelise Janssen racked up 34 points while Chelsea Swann’s scoring contributions proved key in the final quarter.

South Adelaide have now been eliminated from the competition while Garville’s push to make the grand final will continue next week against Matrics.

The 2025 Netball SA Premier League finals have arrived, with the opening week’s action headlined by what could be an all-time classic clash between two red-hot rivals.

An in-form Garville side will aim to make its first Premier League grand final in seven years, but to do so they will need to topple reigning premiers, competition favourite and league leader Contax.

In the Premier League elimination final, perennial heavyweights Matrics will take on a refreshed Oakdale.

Matrics and Garville will go head to head in the major semi-final of the Netball SA Premier League.

Fresh off of an impressive 69-58 win over fellow finalists Oakdale, Kirsty Leonard-Down’s Garville side has built major momentum ahead of their qualifying final.

“We were really pleased with what we put out across the four quarters against Oakdale and especially as there were some moments where they were on top,” Leonard-Down said.

“It was good to have our full line-up back and to test ourselves heading into the game against Contax.

“Everyone is feeling good and is ready to go – we’re happy with where we’re at.”

Lenize Guidera and Brooke Irlam were major standouts in attack for Garville against Oakdale, while Tahlia Dnistrjanski and Phoebe Bonner were also integral at centre and around the court.

The side will need to pay close attention to Contax shooters Jordi Vidmar and Sophie Agostino, while defenders Molly Watson, Isabella Noye and Tabitha Packer have also been in strong form.

Leonard-Down believed her side could achieve a win after two close games (a win and a loss) against Contax previously this year.

“It’s been a really even battle between us and I guess when you look at both teams we’re pretty well matched,” she said.

“We both respect each other but we know that it’s going to come down to how we execute our own game.

“For the team, winning and making the grand final would just be a massive reward.

“Achieving such a big goal for the club and everyone involved would be great but there’s still a job to do on Friday.”
