Mabel Park SHS and Ipswich SHS have played out a thriller as the Years 11/12 Titans Schools Leagues girkls grand final went down to the wire.
Ipswich scored the first 26 points, Mabel Park then retaliated with 28 of their own to claim their first title.
Ipswich dominated the first half, scoring the first five tries of the game, with young guns Ella-Jaye Harrions-Leaunoa, Shalom Sauaso and Esther Pedro showcasing their skills.
After a halftime blast - and with the crowd lifting them - they scored their first try early in the second half.
The energy from Mabel Park lifted and the tempo of the game rose as fanscheered on every big hit and tackle.
Three tries in the space of six minutes helped the belief grow further as Ipswich had no answers for the hard running, big hitting and Mabel Park’s ability to keep the ball moving.
It was no fairytale ending for Ipswich, who lost their first three games only to win the next four to make the final, with Mabel Park scoring six tries in the second half to claim victory by two points.
KEEBRA DEFENCE KEEPS MARSDEN SCORELESS
A 35-minute injury delay during the second half didn’t stop Keebra Park’s momentum as they took the Titans Schools Leagues years 9/10 grand final over Marsden.
Keebra Park scored the only try of a disjointed first haalf to take a 6-0 advantage to the break.
Marsden had plenty of the run early in the second half, and looked likely to level the score five minutes in, but turned the ball over on the tryline.
Then came the injury scare. A collision left a Marsden defender needing assistance. She was treated and the game was delayed.
It took all of three minutes for Keebra Park to claim their second try after play restarted, with the conversion, Keebra extended the lead to 12-0 with 20 minutes to go.
It looked all-but done as the clock ran down and Keebra captain Okalani Compton iced the game by claiming the third try.

It’s the climax of a big season.
The two Titans Schools Schoolgirls Cup titles are up for grabs on Wednesday – and it features two cracking contests.
Keebra Park State High School will do battle with Marsden State High School in the Year 9/10 game.
While Ipswich SHS, who have turned the tournament around after starting 0-3, will do battle with Mabel Park SHS.
The game featuring the older girls also doubles as a Queensland Schoolgirls semifinal. The second semifinal of that competition between The Cathedral College and Kirwan SHS will be played on August 19.

KEEBRA PARK HIGH
Eta Sikahele – Front rower
A big, strong font rower who has a great offload, Sikahele has recently made the Queensland 16’s school girls team.
She would be able to change the course of the game by her ball running, or defence, and is quite capable of making a clean line break as well.
Okalani Compton (c) – Hooker
A very crafty No. 9, Compton is the complete package with her strong defence and a dangerous runner.
Captain of Keebra Park, the courageous player also made the Queensland 16’s schoolgirls team.
Star Arthur-Clarke – Front rower
The 14-year-old is one of the youngest players in the team, but don’t let her age fool you, Arthur-Clarke is one of the best runners for her age.
The younger sister of Titans star Laikha Clarke, she has the ability to blow the game wide open with her power and speed.
MARSDEN
Luisa Olomalii – Forward
Big, strong forward that runs with intent and purpose.
Brings the energy and lays the platform for the team to succeed.
Enah Desic – Hooker
Outstanding hooker with great footy smarts. Works for the team and makes the one percenters count.
Excellent boot and definitely one to watch
Kaeylyn Passi – Utility
Known as ‘K dizzle’ by her peers, Kaeylyn has great footwork and steers the team around.
One to watch in both attack and defence, she’s a player that have grown considerably this year.
Years 11/12 – Ipswich State High School v Mabel Park State High School
Ipswich started the tournament losing their first three games, including their round three clash against Mabel Park.
The 34-point loss to Mabel Park proved the catalyst for turning around Ipswich’s season. They have then gone onto win their last four games including the semifinal against Marsden SHS.
Both teams are into the final for the first time.
IPSWICH
Shalom Sauaso – 5/8
Sauaso is a future star of the game, has only just turned 16 but has already started to make a name for herself.
A strong leader, she will be heavily relied on to help bring the title back to Ipswich SHS.
Esther Pedro – Dummy half/halfback
Is capable of playing in the dummy half role, but is also equipped to move to halfback if required to add some extra spark in the backline.
Ella Jaye Harrison-Leaunoa – Centre
A player who can play crucial roles depending on the stage of the game.
Ella-Jaye has been proven to be a match winner for Ipswich and the Jets under-19s.
MABEL PARK
Malaela Su’a – halfback
Malaela has work hard this year to expand her versatility and has been crucial to the success of the Mabel Park side.
A proven running threat across the park, Malaela has tried her hand in the role of halfback this year and has been pivotal in guiding her side to victory.
She will certainly be one to watch as she has the ability to break the game open on either end of the ball.
Delilah Eliu – Second Row
Delilah is a utility edge player who has earned her way onto this list with her barnstorming runs and relentless defence.
In her final year of school, Delilah has gone from strength to strength, captaining the U19 East Tigers side and earning her way into a Queensland jersey.
Delilah will be one to watch as she looks to turn the tide of the game with her strong defence and line bending runs.
Liliele Vaitolo – Hooker
Liliele has been a key factor in the success of this Mabel Park side as she demands the respect of all those who oppose her.
She has the ability to change the momentum of the game and has the ability to get her teammates into space as she controls the game from hooker.
Liliele is one to watch in this grand final as she never backs down and will be looking to dictate the tempo of the game to get her side on the front foot early.
