2025 FNQRL live stream: Ivanhoes v Innisfail, Round 16

The Knights have kept their faint glimmer of hope for the finals alive, grinding out a physical and dramatic win over rivals Innisfail. Watch the REPLAYS.

The Ivanhoe Knights finals dream remains in-tact, even if it took a bit of a battering from a physically intense Innisfail Leprechauns.

The Leprechauns gave away two controversial penalties in the space of three minutes - one while still in possession - to gift the Knights a chance to break the deadlock at 14-12.

That is where the scoreline would stay with the visitors battening down the hatches in the final 10 minutes to hold on grimly for a two-point win.

On a day where the Leprechauns paid homage to their champions of the past, they wound the clock back to the glory days of league with heavy contact and brutal carries.

When crafty halfback Michael Morton refused to give up on his own kick through and managed to get a hand on the pill in the in-goal, it gave the home side a 12-point lead midway through the first half.

But the Knights refused to go away, with lock forward and skipper Zane Knowles leading the way.

Knowles set up the first try with a cross-field kick, before he swept around to create an extra number on the short-side to set up winger Keli Law on the end of a sweeping play.

The try which came on the stroke of halftime would prove crucial as it was the last four-pointer of the game in the bruising encounter.

Replay: Innisfail v Ivanhoes (Reserve Grade) - FNQRL Round 16

The FQNRL reserve grade clash between Innisfail and Ivanhoes was ended prematurely after a fight broke out between the two teams.

Tensions had simmered just below the surface for most of the contest, boiling over several times with the referee offering both teams warnings to bring the tempers under control.

But when an all-in brawl broke out 10 minutes into the second half, players from both sides were sent off and the match abandoned with Ivanhoes picking up a 14-12 win.

Replay: Innisfail v Ivanhoes (Under-19) - FNQRL Round 16

The Under-19s clash was called off prematurely at half-time after a serious injury meant Ivanhoes were unable to continue in the second half.

Innisfail had already put their rivals to the sword in the opening stanza, running in 11-unanswered tries to rack up a brutal 58-0 scoreline at the break.

The Leprechauns right edge was on fire early with backrower Ray Kusu grabbing a double while his outside men Bishop Wickliffe-Adams and Floyd Sakail showed what they could do in open space.

PREVIEW

With three rounds left in the Far North Queensland Rugby League season, Ivanhoes know every game is must-win.

Last year’s grand finalists sit a game and 58 points out of fifth-place and trailing Tully and Mareeba in their quest for a finals spot.

But coach Josh Parker is returning to the most simple message of all, “one week at a time.”

Ivanhoes will take on Innisfail on Saturday, with the triple header streamed live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 3pm.

“We’ve gotta get through this week, before we worry about next week or finals,” Parker said.

“We’re in semi-final mode right now. We have to win to give ourselves a chance to play finals football.”

While this weekend’s rivals, the Leprechauns, sit second last with only four wins from 14 games, Parker said he refused to take the former FNQRL heavyweights lightly.

Innisfail are coming off a much-improved performance where they pushed fifth-placed Mossman-Port Douglas to the limit last weekend.

“They’re at home, and last time we played them they served it up to us for the first 60 minutes,” Parker said.

“It was only really the last bit of that game where we got the best of them.

“They’ve been pretty unlucky with some injuries this year, plus losing some blokes from their team last year.

“But we know they’re capable of anything.”

The Knights know the pain of losing past players, watching brothers Regan and Rhylee Herd help propel Atherton into premiership contention this season, while ex-NRL star Josh Dugan hasn’t taken the field since their Round 11 win over Southern Suburbs.

The A-grade clash between the Knights and Leps will kick off at 6pm, and will be preceded by under-19s (3pm) and reserves (4.30pm).
