Capital Football Blue has set themselves up as the team to beat in the open women’s play-offs after entering the sudden death stages as the top seed ahead of rivals NSW Thunder.
With Brittany Polombi guiding the way with her boot, leading the championships with six goals, the women from the nation’s capital will be part of a big day of finals action across pitches six and seven on Friday.
Capital Football Blue will take on Queensland Maroon in the quarter-finals, aiming to book their spot in the afternoon’s semi-finals.

The exclusive coverage of pitches six and seven will include select quarterfinals matches from the open women, open men and youth men divisions (other quarter-final matches can be found on our other stream story here). The action continues in the afternoon with the semi-final matches.
Capital Football Blue isn’t the only side looking to bring its impressive round form into the play-offs, with fellow open women’s pool toppers Victoria Navy tuning up for the finals with a brilliant 5-1 win over Football South Australia on Friday.
In the Open Men’s division, Football West pulled off the great escape, scoring three goals in the final five minutes, to keep their undefeated streak alive and lead all comers into the finals.
Shockingly last year’s grand finalists Victoria Tigers and NSW Thunder both settled for second spot in their groups, but have avoided a showdown early in the playoff stages.
Victoria Blues topped their pool to set up a clash with Capital Football, while the Tigers will take on Queensland and NSW Thunder clash with NSW Lightning.
