It’s win or go home on day three of the Basketball Queensland Under-16 Girls State Championships as some of the country’s best young athletes clash in the semi-finals of the tournament.

After two days of fierce competition featuring memorable comebacks, dominant individual performances and fairytale victories – we are now down to the do-or-die part of the championships.

Hosted by Toowoomba Basketball at Toowoomba Grammar and The Glennie School, the tournament is heating up with the final pool games, which will determine semi-finals match-ups, to be played in the morning before the grand final qualifiers in the afternoon.

All games on court one at Toowoomba Grammar will be livestreamed in this story.

Pool B of the Division 1 tournament has gone as predicted so far with both the Logan Thunder and Gold Coast Rollers undefeated after four games.

But the teams, who battled it out for the SQJBC championship last month, will meet once again in our first livestream game with the winner to take top spot in the pool.

However, in Pool A an upset rocked the competition on day two as the Cairns Dolphins produced an impressive comeback to earn a one-point victory over the Southern Districts Spartans.

The result now means the Dolphins will take top spot in the pool and will face the loser of the Rollers and Thunder clash, while the Spartans and South West Metro Pirates will compete for a semi-finals spot at 8am with the loser to miss the top four.

Our livestream schedule for day three will also feature several games from other divisions, along with the Division 2 semi-final at 5pm.

REPLAY: Div 1 – Logan Thunder def Gold Coast Rollers 114-51

The Logan Thunder have claimed top spot in Pool B in the Division 1 tournament after a dominant 63-point victory over the Gold Coast Rollers in the final round robin game.

These two teams have developed a rivalry over the past two years, clashing in several grand finals, including the SQJBC championship game just last month where the Rollers might have fallen but it was the first time a team had reached within 20 points of the Thunder.

But Logan went to another gear this morning, jumping out to a lead of more than 20 points at halftime and continuing to extend their advantage in the second half to run away with the game.

The result means the Rollers will face the Cairns Dolphins in the semi-final at 2pm, which will be livestreamed in this story at 2pm, while the Thunder will take on the South West Metro Pirates in the other semi-final.

REPLAY: Div 3 QF – Northside Wizards 2 def Rockhampton Storm 85-33

A 52-point victory has helped the Northside Wizards 2 progress to the Division 3 semi-finals in convincing fashion after rolling through the Rockhampton Storm in the quarterfinal.

Led by Noelle Sipsma’s 24 points, the Wizards proved too tough a challenge for Rockhampton, leading for the full 40 minutes to hit their best form at the right time.

Brooke Salter also reached double figures for Northside with 11 points.

Bre Walsh was impressive for the Storm with 14 points.

Div 2 – North Gold Coast Seahawks Teal vs Southern Districts Titans

REPLAY: Div 2 - Ipswich Force def by Southern District Trojans Black 91-46

Southern Districts Trojans Black have booked their spot in the Division 2 semi-finals after finishing their pool stages with just one loss following a 45-point win over the Ipswich Force.

The Trojans found their form on both ends of the court from the opening tip and the Force couldn’t keep up as Southern Districts went into halftime with a 44-18 advantage.

It seemed as though the Trojans continued to improve as the contest went on, almost breaking the 100 mark to earn their fifth win of the tournament and move into the finals stages with a boost in confidence.

Southern Districts will meet the North Gold Coast Seahawks in the grand final qualifier at 5pm on the livestream schedule.
