IT has produced some of Queensland’s top professional players and now another wave of exciting young talents will take to the court for the Basketball Queensland Under-16 State Championships.
The Courier Mail will be your only place to catch the first glimpse of the future of Australian hoops with our exclusive live streams of both the boys and girls titles over the next fortnight.
Some of the nation’s brightest basketball stars have emerged through the pathways tournaments, including former NBA players Aron Baynes and Cameron Bairstow, as well as Australian Opals Cayla George and Kirsty Wallace.
The Courier Mail’s live coverage comes as its broadcast partnership with Basketball Queensland enters its fourth year.
“News Corp’s support of our game continues to grow year-on-year and we’re excited to have them back live streaming both the Under-16 Boys and Under-16 Girls State Championships this April,” Basketball Queensland operations manager Chris Angus said.
“The best Queensland athletes will be in attendance with teams from right across the state vying to claiming a Championship.”
Our coverage begins with the under-16 boys championships at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre from April 7-10.
The Courier Mail will stream 27 games across the four-day tournament, including the gold medal games for Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 on Sunday afternoon. The bronze medal games for Division 1 and 2 will also be included on the stream.
The coverage will continue next week with the under-16 girls championship at Toowoomba Girls Grammar from April 12-15.
Logan Thunder will be determined to go back-to-back in the Division 1 girls competition, after defeating Mackay in last year’s gold medal clash in a three-point thriller.
The Courier Mail’s exclusive live stream of the girls championships will include 26 matches from the main court across the four days.
