2025 VAFA live stream: Premier Men’s semi-finals, U19 preliminary final
Old Scotch and Old Brighton ended on the right side of Saturday’s VAFA men’s semi-finals, while the U19 preliminary final ended in a thriller. Watch the REPLAYS here.
Old Scotch’s quest for back-to-back flags is alive and well after the Cardinals knocked over St Kevin’s in Saturday’s semi-final, while Old Brighton’s win over Old Xaverians booked them the first spot in this year’s grand final.
The Cardinals were too strong in the 12.10 (82) to 8.11 (59) win at Trevor Barker Beach Oval with a dominating third-quarter the ultimate difference in the result.
Leading by 10 points at halftime, Old Scotch kicked four goals to zero after the break in what was both an offensive and defensive masterclass.
St Kevin’s produced their own response in the final-quarter, kicking four goals to two but it wasn’t enough to overrun the reigning premiers.
Angus Jones (three goals) was the major difference inside 50 for the victors, while Charlie Cormack was also terrific throughout.
Old Brighton’s win was built off a fantastic final-quarter display after leading by just one-point at the final break.
Six goals to one in the final term extended that margin to 33 points and booked them a date with the winner of next week’s preliminary final between Old Scotch and Old Xaverians.
In the U19 preliminary final, it was St Kevin’s that won an overtime thriller after University Blues forward Charlie Cotter kicked a goal after the siren to tie the game.

Old Brighton v Old Xaverians — 2025 VAFA Premier Men’s semi-final
PREVIEW
Old Scotch might have scraped into the finals series on percentage but the reigning premier is as great a threat as any.
In recent weeks, the Cardinals have welcomed back a host of VFL-listed players as they prepare to defend their crown.
Coach Mark Gnatt and his side will take on fellow VAFA Premier powerhouse St Kevin’s in Saturday’s first semi-final.
The game will be apart of a huge KommunityTV triple header on Saturday afternoon.
The broadcast also includes the second semi-final between Old Brighton and Old Xaverians where the winner will go straight through to the grand final. SKOB and Uni Blues will meet in the U19 men’s preliminary final to close out the day from 5.15pm.

Looking at his side, Gnatt said the pre-finals bye had come at a welcome time.
Names to have returned in recent weeks include James Tarrant, Sam Grant, Oli Badr, Alex Noblet and Rhys Galvin.
“The whole thing all year has been about the connection of the group, the cohesion is strong,” Gnatt said.
“These aren’t guys just walking back into a side when you never see them. When their VFL games don’t clash, they’re watching us and training when they can.
“Having them play at higher levels is what we want. There’s nothing better than saying players test themselves at the highest level.
“When we had a lot of them back for the game against Uni Blacks (in round 17) it all just seemed to click straight away which was really pleasing as a coach.”
Old Scotch managed to sneak into the top-four on the back of three straight wins, finishing the home-and-away season with a 9-9 record.
Now they’re confident of doing some damage.
“This is the best time of year,” Gnatt said.
“The pleasing thing has been there is a lot of evolution, we’ve been able to get games into the younger guys.
“It’s not always about the now, it’s about the future as well.”
