Geelong Independent Schools Sports Association powerhouse St Ignatius College will be determined to cap off a big year on the football fields with Herald Sun Shield silverware.

The Geelong champions, who were unstoppable in every age group during the GISSA season, will fly the flag for the association in the Division 2 Senior Boys finals on Tuesday.

St Ignatius College will be one of the schools to watch across a big day of action after the school overcame two years of heartache in the GISSA senior final, powering past Iona College in an 82-point grand final win last month.

St Ignatius finished the school season undefeated and averaged a winning margin of 97.8 points per game.

But they won’t have an easy run to the title with several schools determined to keep them from claiming the Division 2 crown.

The Christian Sports Event Network combined side will return to the finals for the second-straight year with the side made up of students from more than 20 different schools.

Reigning champions Westbourne Grammar made the step up to Division 1 this season, leaving the path to the Division 2 title wide open with new challengers Braemer College, Overnewton Collefe and Donvale Christian College determined to make their mark on the premier schools football competition.
