Several young Geelong Falcons talents will have the chance to impress this Sunday with some key absences opening the door for opportunity.

The Falcons face the Brisbane Lions Academy at Michael Voss Oval in Brisbane on Sunday, with the Coates Talent League fixture to be live streamed exclusively through KommunityTV.

The Lions-Falcons double header will kick off with the girls match at 10am, followed by the boys at 12.10pm.

AFL Academy duo Josh Lindsay and Ben Rongdit as well as Young Guns call-up and mid-season draft prospect Kobe George are unavailable.

The team will also be missing players with school football commitments.

It will see the likes of Geelong Next Generation Academy talent Jesse Mellor, Jordan Monohan and Angus Ford given more responsibility.

Vic Country hopefuls Mason Williams, Fletcher Pulleine and Jett Elek will be players to watch, while promising prospect Hugo Mikunda will make his season debut after overcoming a back injury.

The Falcons also boast a number of father-son prospects in Jagger Mooney, Jax Cooney (Western Bulldogs) and Noah Caracella (Essendon).

Mellor in particular has been impressive in the opening three matches of the season.

The inside midfielder has average 18 disposals, four marks, two clearances, almost six tackles and score involvements and a goal this season and 113 Ranking Points – second most at the club behind Lindsay.

Brisbane will be without its midfield prime-mover, Daniel Annable, who is part of the AFL Academy squad that will face VFL team Coburg on Sunday.

Meanwhile in the Girls match, Lions fans will get a close look at father-daughter prospects Meg and Ally Lappin – who’s father Nigel is a three-time premiership player and 279-game Brisbane legend – albeit in Falcons colours.

Meg is also one of three Falcons looking to earn Vic Country representative honours, along with Stella Huxtable and skipper Georgia Tyrrell.

Ava Bilyk will miss due to school football commitments.

Charlotte Van Loon, sister of Sydney Swan Ash Van Loon, is another to watch.
