2025 AFL Masters National Carnival live stream: Watch action from every oval on Day 2

The AFL Masters National Carnival returned on Wednesday, with a goal of the year contender and a couple of dominating wins among the highlights on day two. Watch all the REPLAYS here.

She might work full time as a personal organiser, but Western Australia Over-40s star Estelle Dragstra had the Tasmanian defence in disarray in Darwin on day two of the AFL Masters National Carnival.

The All Australian representative and former Masters National Carnival best and fairest winner was everywhere for the Sandgropers as they took another step toward a brilliant title defence with a 13.13 (91) to 0 win over Tasmania.

Dragstra finished with two goals for the game, but had a hand in countless others as the WA side made it two wins on the trot to start the tournament.

Dragstra worked brilliantly in tandem with WA’s key forward Debbie Ward, the lady affectionately dubbed the Tony Lockett of women’s footy, who finished with four majors.

Ward was last year’s golden boot, finishing with 15 goals for the week, and now has five from the first two games in Darwin.

In other Over-40s action on Wednesday, Tasmania put their opening round loss to WA Gold well and truly behind them with a searing 113-point win over WA Black. Sorell masters player Andrew Press booted eight goals in the 18.7 (118) to 0.2 (2) victory.

SA Over-40 Womens continued their strong run through the tournament in the Top End, booting three goals in a blistering final term to knock off Victoria Metro 6.10 (46) to 0.2 (2). Queensland also picked up it’s second win of the tournament beating hosts Northern Territory 3.0 (18) to 1.0 (6).

Meanwhile, WA Gold forward Tommy McIntyre pulled a rabbit out of the hat with a goal of the tournament contender to kick his side to a dominant 27-point victory in the Over-40s Men’s.

Trapped against the sideline in the forward pocket, McIntyre pulled off his best Warnie impression, turning a grubbering kick around the corner and between the big sticks.

The third-quarter goal put the defending Over-40s champions up by a four-goal margin over rivals Victoria/NSW Metro heading into the final break of their second-round clash.

The Sandgropers maintained the momentum in the final quarter with skipper Shannon Tippett leading the charge with four majors in the 10.6 (66) to 6.3 (39) win.

It was a tough pill to swallow for the Victoria/NSW side who had pushed their rivals to the limit in the opening half with All-Australian hopefuls Nathan Darvill, Phil Pratt and Shane ‘Punky’ Brewster helping the lead change hands four times in two quarters.

Finally, the NT’s hopes of clinching the Over-45 Div 1 men’s masters title have been dealt a major blow following a serious injury to star playmaker Greg Gordon.

The ex-Tasmanian had to be helped off the field after sustaining a “devastating” leg injury early on in the 2.4 (16) to 4.2 (26) loss to Western Australia.

The Territorian side fought valiantly, but couldn’t overcome a stiff defensive effort from the Sandgropers, with All Australian defender Chris Tyson and midfielder Danny Giles building a brick wall on the edge of the defensive 50.

WA leader ‘Big’ Joe Furulyas also proved to be a major presence through the midfield while his men upfront put enough polish on the performance to force the victory.

Victoria also hit the board for the first time in the Over-45 Div 1 men’s competition after surviving a late scare from arch rivals South Australia. Michael Boothey and Andrew Ladbury both booted three goals each as the Victorians ran out 8.12 (60) to 5.5 (35) winners on day two of the Masters National Carnival in Darwin.

PREVIEW

Western Australia’s bid to retain its crown in the AFL Masters National Carnival’s two most hotly-contested divisions is set to face a fresh test on Wednesday.

After a two-day break to refresh the legs, players are set to come out firing when play resumes in Darwin.

All five ovals will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV with the action kicking off at 8.30am AWST (9am AEST).

WA – a dominant force at its home carnival in 2024 – is the reigning champion in both the men’s and women’s 35s divisions and the title defence began with few hiccups on the opening day.

The men began the carnival with a strong 27-point win over Vic Country and next face Tasmania/Queensland from 3.35pm at TIO Oval 1 on Wednesday.

With the likes of 2024 All-Australians Brad Fairclough, Graham Ross and coach Bradley Flavel, the Sandgropers once again look like a force to be reckoned with.

The WA women meanwhile edged past Vic Country in a seven-point battle on Sunday and next face an intrastate clash with WA North West to kick things off at 8.30am on TIO Oval 2.

Other games to look out for on Wednesday include a key contest between hosts NT and SA/Queensland in the Men 40s at 3.35pm on TIO Oval 2 plus the might of the Vic Metro Men 65s A outfit taking on SA/NT at 12.45pm on Gardens Oval 2.

With over 60 teams and 1,250 players set to compete, the carnival is set to be a festival of football in Darwin from September 28 to October 4.

Every match will be live streamed exclusively on KommunityTV.
