2025 Langer Trophy live stream: Marsden SHS v Redcliffe SHS, Round 3

Marsden SHS will look to muscle up in round 3 of the Langer Trophy against threatening Redcliffe SHS ironically controlled by a former Marsden student. Watch the double header LIVE on Tuesday.

Marsden SHS will look to get more physical in the ruck as they confront a Redcliffe SHS controlled by former Marsden student Grady Payne.

Coach Krys Freeman said his team needed to be more “physical in the ruck” and reduce silly mistakes which cost his team dearly in the narrow loss to Ipswich State High last round.

The Langer Trophy clash between Marsden and Redcliffe will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV on Tuesday as part of a big double header including the Walters Cup (Year 10) clash between the schools.

Marsden SHS will have to do it without star playmaker and goal kicker, Hayden Watson, who is a part of the Queensland Under-19 Origin squad playing this week on the Sunshine Coast.

In his place Lennox Pope will make his Langer Trophy debut, a huge moment for the specialist halfback.

Pope, who plays under-18s for the strong Burleigh Bears club, will oppose former Marsden SHS and Coombabah SHS student Grady Payne.

Payne’s desire to test himself in the Langer Trophy saw him move schools to Redcliffe Satte High from the far northern Gold Coast community of Coomera - just on the edge of Marsden SHS’s catchment.

Quality halfbacks don’t grow on trees, and Payne has evolved into a first class conductor after learning on the run in his Langer Trophy debut last season, and then playing club league in the 2025 Meninga Cup for the Brisbane Tigers.

The Scott Murray-coached Redcliffe State High side will offer plenty of threat to Marsden through the ruck where the Eagles possess power and mobility.

The likes of Taufa Tualani and Jairus Suliasi were mobile big men, while the middle field speed threat will come courtesy of Nate Berrigan, Amare Wynyard, No.13 Aza Toki-Mautairi and fullback James Grey.

Marsden will be without star big man Mace Andrew.

Aside from missing halfback Watson, Marsden SHS will be without one of their best mobile forwards, Queensland representative Mace Andrew, who is out injured.
