The NRL grand final will be shown live on big screens at the Broncos Leagues Club and Treasury Casino for hundreds of fans unable to attend the Sydney blockbuster in person.
The Broncos Leagues Club carpark will be transformed with a big screen to host the grand final extravaganza from 4pm with Brisbane taking on Penrith Panthers.
Broncos’ old boys are expected to attend along with a food truck and a cash giveaway, while the Treasury Brisbane will have the game live on its mega screen.
The AFL has confirmed Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands will showcase its grand final on Saturday with thousands of Lions fans expected to turnout.
Thousands of fans packed into Riverstage and King George Square in August to witness the Matildas’ play England - an atmosphere that could be recreated.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who is attending the NRL grand final only, said it was a great weekend for Queensland sport with three teams on show with the Gold Coast Titans women also into the big dance.
Ms Palaszczuk said the AFL grand final live set at Southbank would be a similar vibe to that provided by the Matildas’ women’s world cup heroics earlier this year.
“I think that’s a great place for people to go and watch, but also too, I think there will be cafes, pubs and bars open and a lot of Aussie barbecues happening,” the Premier said.
