THE VALLEY
BRAD WATERS (Racenet)
THE GARDEN (Race 9, No.6 – $4)
Talented galloper that is yet to miss a place first-up. Went to the spelling paddock a winner and should get every chance to resume a winner at The Valley.
Value bet: ROUSSEAU (Race 3, No.7 – $15)
GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun)
FOUJITA SAN (Race 1, No. 1 – $2.70)
Beaten by a good horse at debut here then smashed them at Sandown. Nice horse
Value bet: MICHELOTTI (Race 2, No.1 – $16)
SIMON MOY (NewsRacing)
LITTLE MISS KUBI (Race 1, No.8 – $3.80)
Paddled through the heavy going at Moe with ease and conditions set up perfectly here.
Value bet: IT’S TRUE (Race 6, No.12 – $7)
JETT HATTON (Racenet)
GOLD TRIP (Race 7 No.1 – $4)
Highly-regarded import that had his first run in more than a year and went great in unsuitable conditions. Turned in the quickest last 600m split of the race which was impressive considering he lugged 62kg on the deteriorating track. Going to improve greatly for the run and prove hard to beat at The Valley.
Value bet: SIR LEONIDAS (Doomben Race 2, No.7 – $26)
NICOLE THOMAS (TAB)
LACKEEN (Race 3, No.3 – $3.30)
Excellent last-start winner at this track over the mile. Carries a little extra weight but no reason he won’t win again.
Value bet: PRIX DE TURN (Race 7, No.10 – $13)
ROYAL RANDWICK
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph)
ANAMOE (Race 8, No.3 – $2.50)
Resuming after two solid barrier trials. He usually sprints well fresh but the set-up here going straight to 1400m seems ideal. Anamoe enjoys Randwick and will appreciate racing on a track surface that will be close to the good range, and has the tactical speed and brilliance to start his four-year-old season with another Group 1 win.
VALUE BET: SMIRNOVA (Race 7, No.13 – $13)
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Racing News Editor)
LORD ARDMORE (Race 6, No.3 – $3.20)
Won his past two but looks as though he still has more to offer. Last time at 2000m he was beaten a nose by subsequent Doomben Cup winner Huetor.
Value bet: MANKAYAN (The Valley Race 7, No.2 – $5)
ADAM SHERRY (Sportsman)
ZAPATEO (Race 7, No.10 – $4)
Smart Godolphin mare who has only missed a place once in eight starts and that was a fourth to Mazu after striking interference at the start. Can kick off her campaign on a winning note and go on to bigger races this spring.
Value bet: FANGIRL (Race 8, No.10 – $8.50)
