2024 Caulfield Cup field: Trainers Ciaron Maher, Chris Waller with four acceptors each

Australia’s leading trainers dominate the field for Saturday’s $5 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup ahead of the 12.45pm barrier draw.

Power trainers Ciaron Maher and Chris Waller both have four acceptors in the field for Saturday’s $5m Caulfield Cup (2400m).

Waller and Maher have three runners in the 18 guaranteed starters while both have an emergency for the Melbourne Racing Club’s showpiece event.

Waller will run Buckaroo, Land Legend and Valiant King while Maher has Circle Of Fire, Duke De Sessa and Australian debutant Sayedaty Sadaty in the 18.

Berkshire Breeze is the second emergency for Maher while the Waller-trained Francesco Guardi is the third emergency.

Japanese runner Warp Speed will make his local debut in the Caulfield Cup while the Kris Lees-trained Kalapour will carry the number one saddlecloth.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable decided against running Just Fine in the Caulfield Cup, leaving Turnbull Stakes third placegetter Eliyass as the camp’s sole representative.
