JUMPOUT/TRIAL OF THE WEEK

OSCAR’S FORTUNE (Flemington jumpouts – September 26)

Oscar’s Fortune is a smart Perth sprinter that placed in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes last year. He last raced in The Goodwood in Adelaide in the spring before trainer Dion Luciani decided to send the four-year-old son of Rich Enuff to Melbourne for the spring. The speedster showed his customary early toe to comfortably lead the heat well off the fence. He was asked to quicken for about 100m but put a big margin on his opposition in a pleasing trial.

TOO BIG (Caulfield Heath jumpouts – September 25)

Too Big is certainly well named as a big powerful type. He showed good natural speed to lead his Caulfield Heath jumpout to the home turn and steadily built momentum to win the heat easily. He’s a big horse but is a good mover and can pick up a race or two this time in.

KRYSANOVA (Caulfield Heath jumpouts – September 25)

Krysanova won three races in Perth for the Trevor Andrews stable before her owners decided to send him to Mornington trainer Cliff Brown for the spring. Krysanova finished fourth in her first jumpout for Brown at Mornington on September 11 before heading to Caulfield. She was sharp early, striding to the front, before continuing to open the margin in the straight. She’s a 1000m speedster that should pay her way in Melbourne.

RICH DOTTIE (Cranbourne jumpouts – September 30)

Rich Dottie showed talent in the autumn, winning at Caulfield on debut but may have had enough when she went to Brisbane in May. However, she has had more time to develop and has looked sharp in both her jumpouts. She finished second in her first hitout at Cranbourne on September 16 before improving off that in her latest jumpout. She settled on the speed and her action looked very smooth as she finished the heat off well. She’s ready to go to the races.

SAMANGU (Cranbourne jumpouts – September 30)

Samangu hasn’t raced for 18 months but Cranbourne trainer Grahame Begg has persevered with the daughter of Written By. She had one jumpout in February but looks close to getting back to the races with her two recent hitouts. Samangu covered a bit of ground in her jumpout but stretched out beautifully under gentle pushing in the last 200m. She could be a late maturer that picks up a race or two for connections this time in.

SHADHAVAR (Ararat trials – September 30)

The Tom Dabernig-trained Shadhavar had one run in the autumn for a midfield finish on a tough Warrnambool track but looks to have significantly developed in her time off. She’s a bold-going filly that covered plenty of ground throughout the jumpout but powered to the line with a bg action. She can definitely show much more this time in.
