Benedetta is one of the main chances in the Robert Sangster Stakes.

It’s Adelaide’s time in the sun on Saturday with two $1 million Group 1s headlining a great day of racing at Morphettville.

The Robert Sangster Stakes has drawn together a quality field of fillies and mares with three-year-old, Estriella, the $3.10 favourite.

She is definitely the one to beat, but it’s always a big ask for three-year-olds taking on older horses for the first time.

In saying that, Ruthless Dame, also trained by Ciaron Maher, won last year’s Sangster as a filly.

If you’re betting around her, Zapateo and Benedetta look the best of the rest.

The Australasian Oaks is a very even race with several winning chances, however, I’ll be surprised if one of Wings Of Song, Concello, or Pulchritudinous doesn’t win.

Highlighting the quality of the meeting, only three SA-based jockeys have got rides in the Group 1s — Todd Pannell (Snapped) and Lachie Neindorf (Climbing Star) in the Sangster, while Sairyn Fawke is on third emergency Shut That D’or in the Oaks but she is unlikely to gain a start.

It’s great to see the superstars of our sport such as James McDonald, Jamie Kah, Blake Shinn and Mark Zahra riding in Adelaide.
