Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman to take over Kiwi talent Sought After

Trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman will have the chance to repeat their feats with I Wish I Win when another talented Kiwi galloper joins the stable in the coming weeks.

Trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman could have an imminent replacement for recently retired star I Wish I Win.

Moody and Coleman won the Golden Eagle and two Group 1s with I Wish I Win before the gelded son of Savabeel’s retirement after his third in last month’s Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.

I Wish I Win’s owners, New Zealand-based Waikato Stud, have decided to send promising three-year-old Sought After to Moody and Coleman for an Australian campaign.

Sought After has won two of six starts in his homeland but the son of Tivaci finished fourth at his latest outing in the $NZ3.5 million NZB Kiwi at Ellerslie on March 8.

Waikato Stud boss Mark Chittick said he and Sought After’s original trainers Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott assessed the New Zealand options before deciding to send the gelding to Australia.

“All parties agreed that we would give him the opportunity over there and see whether he measures up,” Chittick said.

Chittick said an Australian preparation has not been decided for Sought After but the option remained for the developing galloper to head back to New Zealand for a summer campaign at the end of the year.

Sought After is a well-bred performer, being closely related to former star galloper Sacred Falls but could not be sold as a yearling due to a growth on his larynx.
