Trainers Sam and Anthony Freedman expect a filly to build on a “sneaky run” in Saturday’s Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude for fillies.
The Godolphin-owned Expulsion was specked in betting before finishing midfield behind My Gladiola on debut in the Blue Diamond Preview at Sandown.
Sam Freedman said Expulsion’s run was better than it appeared at first glance despite the Bivouac filly finishing seven lengths from the winner.

“She was a sneaky run,” Freedman said.
“She got back and she wasn’t completely sure of herself but she closed the race off well.”
The father and son duo has an outstanding record in recent editions of the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
Freedman Racing has won three of the past six editions of Victoria’s richest two-year-old race with Lyre (2019), Artorius (2021)) and Daumier (2022).

Freedman said rising in trip would help Expulsion improve in Saturday’s $350,000 event.
“She’ll be better suited at 1100(m) but she’ll be better again at 1200m,” Freedman said.
“She’s a nice filly going forward.”
Expulsion is $26 in early all-in betting.
The stable has also entered unraced filly Ring My Bell for the fillies’ Prelude but Freedman said the Hanseatic filly was an unlikely starter.
“Ring My Bell is more likely to line up Sunday (in a two-year-old maiden at Bendigo) but we put a nomination in,” Freedman said.
“She has ability and trialled up well last week but we might take an easier route with her.”
