JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Braith Nock has four rides who should all be right in the finish. Looks great chance in the TAB Jockey Challenge.
RACE 1: 2yo Maiden Plate (1100m)
ROSIE ROUGE (10) is by I Am Invincible and is the first foal of Group 2 winner Madam Rouge. Wide early then outside the leader and kept under a hold when a close third to Snitzel Miss and Within The Law in his Jan 23 Rosehill trial. Nice win in her latest heat. KING OF POP (3) is by Farnan from the family of Snitzel. Trialled nicely in November. Held up when fourth in his Feb 3 heat at Rosehill. NAPOLEONIC (5) is by Wootton Bassett. Sat wide and closed smartly to win his Feb 11 Warwick Farm trial.
BET: ROSIE ROUGE (10) each-way.
STING IN THE TAIL (7) did it tough out wide when fourth to Smart Legend first-up before closing strongly to beat Final Reset at Canterbury. Again found Smart Legend a fraction too good last start. Meets him 1kg better. SMART LEGEND (3)’s two wins were split by a second to Magnatear in a Randwick Midway on Jan 25. The one to beat again. SEVEN’S (4) got home well from last to finish third behind Puntin over 1600m here at his Australian debut. His two French wins were over 2000 and 2100m.
BET: STING IN THE TAIL (7) to win.
RACE 3: 3yo Maiden Handicap (1400m)
MAJORCA SUNSET (10) was forced to race wide without cover and went down fighting when a half-length second to Zoutastic at Wagga on Jan 26. His previous run a month before a handy third to Crepe Myrtle at Randwick when held up. JACOB’S LADDER (7) debuted with a handy third behind Shalaa Gold over 110m here on Jan 27. Has since closed well to win a Randwick trial on Feb 13. POLYMNIA (1) went within a half head of scoring a first-up win last campaign when beaten by Yoshinobu in a Super Maiden at Wyong in September. Hasn’t been pushed in her two recent trials.
BET: MAJORCA SUNSET (10) to win.
SILENCIO PORFAVOR (3) was an easing favourite but got the job done on debut over 1000m at Kembla and followed with a win over the same trip at Scone. Resuming here off a nice fourth to Written Scandal in his Randwick Jan 28 heat. MISTY LEGEND (5) was a big first-up winner from Flying Rani over this trip at Wyong last time in ended the prep with a second to the talented Island Dec. Trilled smartly at Rosehill on Feb 3. MABEL (1) was just beaten by Angel Fund in a Midway first-up and has closed well in her two runs since all over 1100m. Her six wins have all been over 1000m.
BET: SILENCIO PORFAVOR (3) to win.
RACE 5: 3yo+ Colts, Horses & Geldings Benchmark 72 (1400m)
HOUSE OF CARDS (4) was a little slow away from the inside gate and was held up turning for home before closing late to finish a length second to Don Pedro when resuming here two weeks ago. Stays at the 1400m and will get more galloping room from barrier 5. CLIMB THE LADDER (7) followed a handy debut second behind Summer Flame at Mornington with an impressive win by nearly five lengths from Rhia over 1400m at Sandown-Lakeside on Feb 15. DON PEDRO (3) raced outside the leader before hitting the front at the 200m and racing to a nice win.
BET: HOUSE OF CARDS (4) to win.
RACE 6: 3yo+ Fillies & Mares Benchmark 72 (1400m)
SCINTILLA (5) was okay in her first preparation including a debut third to Winning Proposal here last June. Has returned in great order with a first-up second behind the talented Qatars Choice at Canterbury followed by two big wins over 1250m at the same course. Ready for the step up to 1400m. GOOD SORT (4) overraced when down the track in The Vanity at Flemington at her last run in November. Form prior was very good including a third in the Group 3 Reginald Allen. PIONEER LASS (1) went back from a wide gate and was held up over the last 100m at Randwick last start.
BET: SCINTILLA (5) to win.
DEPTH OF CHARACTER (2) was tightened for room and lost ground at the start and settling midfield before finishing fifth to Bosustow when resuming Magic Million 3YO Guineas on Jan 17. Well placed here with the 3kg claim. ALL IN THE MIND (1) was doing his best work late when third behind Sweysive in a Bm78 at Canterbury last start. At his peak now. HEED THE OMENS (5) is having his seventh start for the prep but is in great form. Followed a handy second to Pretty Powerful with a nose win from Bright Red at Canterbury.
BET: DEPTH OF CHARACTER (2) to win.
