RANDWICK-KENSINGTON INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)
CANARA (8) went back from her wide gate and was last of the 14 runners about 10 lengths off the leader and winner, Dominetta on the bend. She came very wide and closed well to finish sixth over the 1200m first-up. Drawn better and will appreciate the 1400m. POLYMNIA (11) went back but saved some ground on the bend and finished a head in front of Canara when fifth in the same race. LECONFIELD (7) showed handy ability in his first campaign. Untested in both recent trials and runs well first-up.
BET: Canara to win.

RACE 2: 3&4YO BENCHMARK 64 (1250m)
SPANISH FOX (2) placed in five of his first seven starts before breaking through at Hawkesbury. He followed up with a good win there on Sept 7. Gets a 3kg claim with Zac Wadick and can bring up the hat-trick. FURY (1) has been good in his five runs. Resumes here off a couple of handy trials without pressure. DARLING DOWNS (4) wasn’t far away in her three starts in town in her first campaign. Resumed with a confidence-booting win at Hawkesbury
BET: Spanish Fox to win.

RACE 3: FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 78 (1400m)
FRENCH ENDEAVOUR (1) sat outside the leader and showed plenty of fight when a narrow second to Ravello when resuming at Warwick Farm two weeks ago. Can go one better. PAJANTI (3) bounded on jumping and settled midfield before coming wide around the bend to finish eighth behind Terra Mater in the Listed Mona Lisa last start. Nice win before that. PIPPIE BEACH (5) boxed on for fourth in record time first-up before nosing out Mergeila at Rosehill last week.
BET: French Endeavour to win.

RACE 4: COLTS, HORSES & GELDINGS BENCHMARK 78 (1400m)
CAPTAIN FURAI (4) debuted with an impressive win on a Good 4 at Newcastle before winning two of his next three on heavy tracks in his first campaign. His only defeat was a second to Franz Josef at Rosehill. GLAD YOU THINK SO (1) was a good third in the ATC Derby but something went amiss in the SA Derby. Resumes here off two good trials, the latest a closing second to Evenflow. Narrowly beaten first-up last prep at Warwick Farm over this trip. HEMAN (2) was held up until the 200 when third to Ravello first-up.
BET: Captain Furai to win.

RACE 5: 5YO+ BENCHMARK 78 (1250m)
AFRICAN DAISY (5) was just beaten by Demiana when resuming last campaign for a new stable. Kept under a hold when third to The Bopper in her Newcastle trial on Sept 25. DEPRIVATION (1) followed a big first-up win at Newcastle with a close second to Sir Artie at Warwick Farm over 1300m when caught on the line. Bounced back with an all-the-way win from Need Some Luck over 1250m at Canterbury. SHINES (4) was okay first-up when fourth to Boston Rocks at Canterbury.
BET: African Daisy to win.

RACE 6: FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 72 (1250m)
EXTREMELY HARDYS (7) was outstanding winning by six lengths on debut on a heavy track at Canterbury in July. Trialled nicely on a good track at Rosehill on Sept 16. SEASCAPE (4) raced a little keenly when the speed slackened on her way to a narrow win from Maori Chief at Canterbury second-up before a close second at the same course to Countyourblessings who has since brought up the hat-trick. Drawn well and will go close again. CATAHOULA (3) was locked up last on the fence and only clear inside the 250m when fourth to Huon here last start.
BET: Extremely Hardys to win.

RACE 7: BENCHMARK 72 (1300m)
KOMODO DRAGON (8) was a little unlucky on debut when held up on the home turn when third to Zousain Bolt at Wyong. Has been very good winning both runs since at Kembla in August. Has been freshened and can bring up the hat-trick. Country Championships placegetter RAPBIDASH (4) kicks off her latest campaign after a nice trial win at Muswellbrook on Sept 23 when clear late and closing smartly. BELLEISTIC KIDS (1) drops back to 1300m after his fourth in the Bathurst Cup over 1800m on Sept 15.
BET: Komodo Dragon to win.

RACE 8: 4YO+ BENCHMARK 72 (1800m)
CHEVAL SAVANT (5) was checked passing the 800m before coming widest on the bend from near last and making up ground to finish under three lengths from Behind The Storm over 1500m at Newcastle first-up. Is very good second-up and the 1800m suits. UNITED KINGDOM (13) has chased home Rock Empire into third place at both runs back from a spell. Ready to peak. KADAVAR (1) has been just behind the placegetters in both runs back. Is a winner here.
BET: Cheval Savant each-way.
