BEST BET
MISTAVAIN (Race 7 No.5): Had no luck at Warracknabeal before going down narrowly at Mildura last time. He’s drawn well and the spacious Swan Hill track should suit.

NEXT BEST
SMASH BLUE (Race 1 No.1): Ran on OK at Moe first-up before boxing on well behind a subsequent Caulfield placegetter second-up. She’ll be hard to beat.
PICK WISELY (Race 4 No.4)
The Archie Alexander-trained gelding ran on well when not far away at Bendigo first-up. He’ll be much fitter for that and has drawn perfectly.

VALUE BET
SHAL EXCEED (Race 5 No.5)
The local four-year-old won two in a row before a short break following the Swan Hill carnival. He jumped out well at Kerang and could return a winner.

LAY OF THE DAY
SPIRITED DEFENCE (Race 8 No.4): Going well on the Ballarat synthetic track but this will be a different scenario. He’s under the odds at $2.90.
