BEST BET

YOUNG WERTHER (Race 7, No.3)

Young Werther tackles this fresh after scoring at Flemington back in July but he’s a talented type that has drawn to have the perfect run.

BLAZERRO (Race 2, No.3)

Blazerro went down narrowly at Sandown last start but will be primed for 1600m after three runs back from a spell. He can break through on Saturday.

RACE 1: 12:10PM INGLIS READY2RACE SALE HANDICAP (1500m)

Expecting The Valley track to be in the soft range for Saturday’s meeting. AUTUMN ANGEL (7) can get punters off to a good start as she will improve on her impressive first-up win. APULIA (1) raced handy when easily beating easier company first-up and will be fitter. FISTOFFURY (3) hasn’t been far away in strong races at his last two outings and has drawn to have every chance. WARLORDS (5) can improve on his Flemington outing.

SUGGESTED BET: Autumn Angel to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Autumn Angel $3 – $2.40

RACE 2: 12:40PM PFD FOOD SERVICES HANDICAP (1600m)

Tricky race but one worth watching with an eye on the future. BLAZERRO (3) has improved with each run this time in and was scratched from a winnable race at Caulfield last Saturday for this. SOKANON (5) made a promising Australian debut at Sandown and will relish the 1600m. PLACE OF GOLD (7) went well behind the in-form Rheinberg at Sandown and blinkers go on. THE CREATOR (11) led and tried hard at Sandown but will be fitter again for this.

SUGGESTED BET: Back both Blazerro and Sokanon to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Place Of Gold $7 – $5.50.

RACE 3: 1:15PM LADBROKES CHALLENGER HANDICAP (2040m)

Possibly the hardest race of the day but going with ROCKEBY ROAD (2040m) to break through for a deserved win after excellent efforts at his last two outings. He’ll go well from barrier three. MAGNASPIN (4) drops back in trip after a solid third here last time and he’ll give them something to chase. SUPERSTOCK (5) was too good in a similar race last start and will go well again. ALORS TU CROIS (6) is going well and drops in class for this.

SUGGESTED BET: Rockeby Road each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Magnaspin $3.30 – $3.10.

RACE 4: 1:50PM DRUMMOND GOLF HANDICAP (1200m)

The smallest field of the day makes for an interesting race. RECOMMENDATION (5) was unlucky not to win first-up but will be fitter and will only carry 51.5kg after apprentice Carleen Hefel’s claim. CORNER POCKET (1) is a consistent galloper that races well fresh and likes The Valley. SAVANNAH CLOUD (2) scored at Caulfield first-up and drops back from stakes class for this. BUOYANTSEA (4) won two stakes races in New Zealand before coming to Victoria and will have 50kg after the claim.

SUGGESTED BET: Box First Four 1, 2, 4, 5.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Recommendation 2.30 – $1.70.

RACE 5: 2:25PM LISTED MCMAHON’S DAIRY MCKENZIE STAKES (1200m)

A smart field of three-year-olds engaged here but AMUR (1) can improve significantly on his excellent first-up effort on this track and his record at The Valley is excellent. SCENTIFY (5) gave them a start but won well first-up and the forecast rain won’t worry him. STEPARTY (4) was impressive during the winter and can measure up to this. BRAVE MEAD (3) was consistent last time in and has won at The Valley.

SUGGESTED BET: Amur to win

TAB MARKET MOVER: Introducing $6.50 – $4.80

RACE 6: 3:00PM LISTED MUSK CREEK FARM ATLANTIC JEWEL STAKES (1200m)

A strong field of three-year-old fillies will line up here but OZ EMPRESS (8) produced an excellent effort on this track first-up and will only be improve. CHARM STONE (1) is a quality filly that won well first-up and will be charging late again. INHIBITIONS (5) had the perfect run to score second-up and will be fitter. MOLLYNICKERS (6) is fresh for this and should go well after two impressive wins in July.

SUGGESTED BET: Box trifecta 1, 5, 6, 8.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Charm Stone $3.80 – $3.30

RACE 7: 3:35PM STRATHMORE COMMUNITY BENDIGO BANK HANDICAP (2040m)

Melbourne Cup winner GOLD TRIP resumes here but YOUNG WERTHER (3) should find this the perfect assignment for his reappearance after winning at Flemington in July. He can win again. BERKELEY SQUARE (7) has drawn much better than his last run and is a Group 2 winner at The Valley. Former Kiwi FULL OF SINCERITY (14) caught the eye with his finishing effort at Caulfield first-up and the rise in trip will suit. FUTURE HISTORY (11) had the perfect run to win in a small field at The Valley last start and is worth thought again.

SUGGESTED BET: Young Werther to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Berkeley Square $4.80 – $4.

RACE 8: 4:15PM GROUP 2 MITTYS MCEWEN STAKES (1000m)

There will be nowhere to hide in the McEwen Stakes with the extreme pressure to be on from the outset. GIGA KICK (1) is a world class sprinter that should enjoy the high pressure and be strong late. ACROMANTULA (4) is one of the fastest horses in Australia and should be in this for a long way with the benefit of two runs at The Valley. IMPERATRIZ (5) is a Group 1 winner at The Valley and will relish the speed. ROTHFIRE (2) won this race last year and is worth though.

SUGGESTED BET: Box trifecta 1, 2, 4, 5

TAB MARKET MOVER: Giga Kick $2 – $1.90

RACE 9: 4:50PM GROUP 2 CLAMMS SEAFOOD FEEHAN STAKES (1600m)

Using the Lawrence Stakes form as a guide here. PINSTRIPED (7) ran a solid second to Mr Brightside in the Lawrence Stakes and the forecast conditions won’t worry him. POUNDING (7) was another that went well at Caulfield and is a second-up winner. ATTRITION (13) was wide throughout but boxed on well in the Lawrence Stakes and will be fitter. DENY KNOWLEDGE (15) was an outstanding winner fresh and could measure up to this harder contest.

SUGGESTED BET: Pinstriped each-way

TAB MARKET MOVER: Tuvalu $9 – $5

RACE 10: 5:25PM POWERFLO SOLUTIONS HANDICAP (1600m)

Tough race to finish but going with HENNESSY LAD (10) to win again after the gelding won over this course last time out. Stepping up in class won’t worry him. AIN’TNODEELDUN (9) will be fitter for a good first-up effort and could go well if the speed is on. REAL SENSATION (13) was also solid at Caulfield first-up and races well at The Valley. ULYSSES (2) will be fitter for three runs in and looks the best of the on-pacers.

SUGGESTED BET: Hennessy Lad to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Hennessy Lad $3.70 – $3.10.
