The Daily Telegraph and Racenet form analyst Shayne O’Cass gives his best bets and race-by-race analysis for the NSW meeting at Scone and Moruya on Friday.

SCONE

BEST BET

Race 2 No. 4: Laspirit Deeler

A Dundeel/Lasqueti Spirit mare who has been crying out for 2000m+ from the days she was foaled.

NEXT BEST

Race 7 No. 1: Point Basse

Talented local, wise to overlook the Highway ‘failure’. Races well here.

VALUE BET

Race 1 No. 6: Boom Smash Opera

Cricket score odds, he could improve a lot over 1600m here.

QUADDIE

Race 5: 4, 8

Race 6: 1, 4, 10, 13

Race 7: 1

Race 8: 5, 6

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Golden Eagle-winning jockey Koby Jennings will have plenty of admirers in the TAB Jockeys Challenge.

MORUYA

BEST BET

Race 3 No. 3: Golden Fairy

Runs by far more races than good, nosed out last time here. Getting close.

NEXT BEST

Race 1 No. 8: Asuriito

Won three of his five trials; the last one by panels with little effort.

VALUE BET

Race 8 No. 7: Peruno

Sent out all the right signs last time that a win is imminent.

INSIDE MAIL - SCONE

RACE 5

Wayne Brown won his hometown Tamworth Rush on Tuesday with Deep Rouge, the stablemate of Subuki who will find this easier perhaps than any or all of his four runs this preparation, two of which were fourths in town. Back to the Scone mile can’t hurt either. King Kikau for father Wayne and daughter Shae Wilkes will appreciate the step up to 1600m himself; he should, he has won four from eight at the distance.

Bet: Subuki to win, exacta 8 to beat 4

RACE 6

This is one of 50 races that has a $100,000 Inglis bonus attached, provided you meet the conditions. Cerons is one who does, having been bought for $50,000 by Brett Cavanough at the Classic. Granted, the local has the visitor’s draw but he might just be better than them. Pleasure Artist is a chance if it comes that is so too the stablemate Sheriff’s Star. Unlikely but not impossible that the $101 shot King Mythos runs a race.

Bet: Cerons to win, King Mythos to place, Daily Double 1st Leg (1), 2nd Leg (6)

RACE 7

Point Basse had enough excuses in the TAB Highway at the start of this month to not only forgive but to overlook. Taking that run off his C.V and we he would be four starts for three wins and a very close second; all of them at Scone and two of those at this trip. Silver Halo is another local who is one for one at the track and distance and that was a very strong Class 2 here on Cup Day. Sixfootone is third-up, building, and comes through a good race.

Bet: Point Basse to win, exacta 1 to beat 3

RACE 8

Silencio Porfavor has drawn wide here; noting that he has drawn 5 in a strong Benchmark 64 over 1000 at Wyong on Mona Lisa Day on Sunday. To cut a long story short, he was very impressive winning on debut at Kembla. King’s Duty, in the Gerry Harvey colours, has always shown talent and while a bit hot and cold at times, he was warming up late first-up. Good signs there. I Am Sugoi is trialling like a bomb ahead of his Angela Davies stable debut.

Bet: Silencio Porfavor to win or if scratched King’s Duty each-way

INSIDE MAIL – MORUYA

RACE 5

Jewel Approach is a Danny Williams-trained mare who has been provided the perfect foundation to make a return trip to the mile, or 1610m to be precise. She was a close, on-pace, third in a 1650m Benchmark 58 here in March. Building to another win it seems. Kenseye Charmer is racing like this trip might actually suit. I’m Not Leaving has a wide draw and a big weight but is the highest rated horse in the field.

Bet: Jewel Approach to win

RACE 6

Acheson was without a jockey so may not be a guaranteed arrival. The one to beat if he comes. The Tony and (son) Nick Hartnell-owned Fourth Spargo has some great numbers. How about two wins, five placings from eight starts and she has always raced well here at Moruya. Drawn to win. If they go quick here and there is an opportunity for horses to get home over the top down the outside, it could be Selhurst Park to have the last say.

Bet: Acheson to win or if scratched Fourth Spargo to win

RACE 7

Burgundy Girl has won five races and placed nine times from her 31 starts; not a bad strike-rate all really. The most impressive and pertinent number (s) is all that the Keith Dryden-trained mare has won three from four at the trip. Mare in form who has drawn well. Final Comment’s five runs this time include four zeros, most of which we could find a little excuse for him. Fairness Is Best and Spritely Emily are players.

Bet: Burgundy Girl to win, Final Comment each-way

RACE 8

Peruno (who was $10 into $8 on Friday) started out life with Ciaron Maher and David Eustace before changing hands online and relocated to Michael Gatty at Moruya. The son of Pierro has been good or very good in pretty well all runs for Gatty who has found the horse the absolute perfect race here. Perfect that is, except for the presence of Thoughtful, the lightly-raced Happy Clapper relation. He’s got a dude draw to overcome however. Win The Day was super impressive at Gundagai.

Bet: Peruno to win
