Champion jockey Opie Bosson will ride promising New Zealand stayer Outovstock in Saturday’s Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m) at Morphettville.
The gun kiwi hoop – who has won 98 Group 1s – is chasing a remarkable 100 Group 1 wins, and sits just two wins ahead of fellow countryman James McDonald (96 G1 wins), who piloted Romantic Warrior to victory in Sunday’s Group 1 QEII Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin.

It will be consecutive weeks that a champion Kiwi jockey has ridden at Morphettville, after McDonald piloted Chris Waller-trained pair Concello and Roots (both 14th) in the G1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) and Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) last Saturday.
Outovstock, trained by G1-winning handler Chad Ormsby, last start won the Group 3 Manawatu Classic (2100m) at Trentham and has drawn barrier 18 for Saturday’s $1 million feature.
Outovstock is a $17 chance with TAB fixed odds for the G1 SA Derby.
