Toowoomba-based mother-and-son racing duo Corey and Kylie Geran are eager to continue their metropolitan rise with two leading chances at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
In the last 12 months the pair have recorded three winners and seven placings from their 27 starts at Eagle Farm and Geran said he was quietly confident they could add to their tally this weekend.
Corey’s father and Kylie’s husband Gary Geran announced his retirement from race riding earlier this month.
New stable addition Without Revenge (formerly with David Vandyke) has been a positive investment with Geran confirming the six-year-old gelding has returned them just over $100,000 from his first three starts.
“We bought him for $40,000 and straight away went to Sydney for the Little Dance where he ran fourth,” Geran said.
“He’s then had two seconds at Doomben behind Acquitted in the Roku Gin Tails Stakes and Bernborough Plate so he still hasn’t even won a race but is going really well.”
Without Revenge will line up in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (1600m) on Saturday and is currently a $12 chance.
“He was also in on Friday for the Ballina Cup which is a Big Dance qualifier but that was abandoned so he’ll obviously head to Brisbane,” he said.
“It’s not a bad race on Saturday, I think it’s probably a touch easier than the Stakes races he’s been in the last two attempts.
“He’s just going really well and will have some more runs this prep before we put him away and bring him back for the winter carnival.”
Their other runner Mahbaby will contest the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m) after winning the Country Stampede before running fourth in the King Of The Mountain on New Year’s Day.

“She’s been a really good story actually, she just continues to improve because this time last year she was racing around the bush,” he said.
“We targeted her for the Country Stampede which she won and was able to pick up $90,000 that day which gained her a slot in the King Of The Mountain.
“That was a step up for her but she ran really fair and was only beaten 1.5 lengths to Rothfire so she’s in career best form and I think she’s a really good winning chance on Saturday.”
