Grand slam winning jockey turned trainer Chris Munce will join forces with his son Corey as he looks to usher in the next generation with a training partnership.
Currently the stable foreman for his father, 29-year-old Corey was in training to become a pilot before making a change back to racing under his legendary father.
Chris Munce is renowned for his feats as a jockey which netted 42 Group 1s, but has carved out a career as a Group 1-winning trainer based at Eagle Farm since retiring from riding in 2015.
After a 29-year career in the saddle, Chris said it was time to spread the load out when it comes to training out of their 46 Eagle Farm boxes.
“He has worked very hard to get to where he is at, so he deserves to be given the opportunity and I am sure he will make a fist of it,” he said.

“I can help him along and we will work in a team as we always have, but we can share the burden a bit more.
“He loves it, he is very good with the horses, not just because he is my son, but he is very particular and has a good temperament with the horses with the horses.”
When Covid-19 put a halt to global travel, forcing a career change, it inspired Corey to work under his father.
“He was going to be a pilot, he was up flying and did all his qualifications to be up there, when he was in school he wanted to be a pilot,” Chris said.

“Covid hit and then there were no pilots getting jobs and there wasn’t much going on, so he asked to come and work for me, so he has been with me for five or so years now.”
Their first runners are set to be in the coming days after the partnership was given the green light by stewards on Wednesday.
It comes on the back of fellow Eagle Farm trainer Annabel Neasham going into partnership with her partner Rob Archibald.
