Richard and Will Freedman capped off a three-state metropolitan treble to savour with Elettrica’s stunning victory in the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) on Saturday.
On a memorable day for the father and son training combination, Magnatear was an ultra impressive winner at Royal Randwick before Coastwatch landed the Listed John Dillon Stakes at the Sandown Lakeside meeting.

It was left to Elettrica to rubberstamp the red letter day for the stable and the six-year-old Vespa mare did it in style, storming home from the back of the field to race away for a commanding 2½-length win in the feature event.
And she did to the roars of punters as well, heavily backed from $12 on race morning all the way into a $5.50 second favourite at jump time.
Richard and Will were in New Zealand on Saturday while the stable was running rampant at home, cheering on their three-state contingent ahead of the Karaka Yearling Sales which get underway on Sunday.
But it didn’t temper the celebrations on what was a memorable day for the formidable Rosehill-based training team.
“It’s been a great day – couldn’t ask for anymore,’’ said Richard Freedman from New Zealand.
“Elettrica was a $40,000 online purchase by syndicator James Moss and that’s been a genius move as the mare is now a stakes winner, her value has soared.
“Then you have Coastwatch who was a reject from Hong Kong when he joined our stable but he is loving life and really enjoying his racing.
“It would have been great to be there trackside but the team at home are doing a fantastic job as the results in all three states have proved.
“Just a great day all around.”
In a sense of irony, Elettrica launched her career in New Zealand before finding her way to Australian soil.
Elettrica’s slashing Sunshine Coast Cup success continued the terrific run of form being enjoyed by talented young hoop Bailey Wheeler.
Wheeler landed a winning treble on Saturday with Liberty Steps and Cosmo Centaurus successful before Elettrica’s Cup heroics.
Finishing runner-up in the Cup behind Elettrica was Lost In Transit while grand campaigner Irish Songs filled third.
Party For Two, the $4.60 favourite, led and looked to be travelling on the turn, before drifting out of the placings late.
