Burraneer Buoy’s three career wins are here at Tamworth and that’s from only four appearances. He has a ‘ winning draw’ and that 2 kgs off might make the difference. Judge Jack won well on debut but it can be to win again next time out and more so when you add in that he’s drawn 10 of 10. Does appear to have to talent however. Dubliner Boy races especially well at the home track and distance.
Bet: Burraneer Buoy to win, box trifecta 1,4,5,6
Navy Steel is a real ‘Classic type’ being by Merchant Navy out of a So You Think daughter of Natural Woman who won the Doomben Roses and was fourth in the Queensland Oaks. This is 1200m but he is ‘fresh’ and the trials are good. Not My Problem is a Kris Lees trained filly on debut who was a close second in a deep looking trial recently. Stablemate Impressionism is a major player, third-up with good form, a good draw and Aaron Bullock.
Bet: Navy Steel to win, tri 3 (standout) to beat 1,2,9 (boxed) DD 1st Leg (3), 2nd Leg (4)
Arliebel is a sparingly-raced six-year-old who has just 13 starts for three wins and three seconds. Trained here, the daughter of Counterattack has won here at home. She drew wide and got a long way back first-up at Armidale but ran rather well even though she only beat one home. This is so much more suitable on Monday. Star Bling is a young up and comer from a very astute yard. Cody Morgan trained local Tornado Express is a huge player.
Bet: Arliebel each-way, trifecta 8,10,11,12 (boxed)
Tigon Princess is the first foal of Serene Miss who was one Kris Lees’ five Provincial Championship Final winners. This daughter of Dundeel has been very costly from a punting perspective. There were times when she looked a good thing on paper and got beaten; never thrashed but still beaten. Taking her on trust from now on. Hardyo will be one more run away from the 100 after this one. Hats off, he’s won 12 of them and placed 27 times. Flying Banjo and Ellenmac have claims.
Bet: Tigon Princess to win
BEST BET
Race 5 No. 13: My Blue Jeans
Grand old man of racing who retains a remarkable zest for racing.
NEXT BEST
Race 6 No. 1: Laguna Seca
Big winner second-up then ran a bottler in a Highway.
VALUE
Race 1 No. 10: Winnie Fortune
Was enough in her trial to fancy here on debut.

Cani Cancan races in the same colours as the late, great Bee Murray’s crack 2YO filly Victory Vein. This daughter of Russian Revolution is trained by Bede’s son, Paul, and has won three from ten including the Mollymook Cup two runs ago. Has won on a Heavy 8. Bentley Brook won with 61 kgs first-up from barrier 10 of 10 at Goulburn (wow) then went to Randwick and performed creditably in a 1000m Highway. Stablemates Unravel and Stupendo have claims.
Bet: Cani Cancan to win, exacta 6 to beat 10
My Blue Jeans, Danny Williams’ $10,000 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling purchase in 2016, is closing on $400,000 in earnings. The ghostly-grey has raced 124 times for 10 wins and 35 placings; oddly perhaps this will be only his second visit to the Sapphire Coast. He’s flying and he loves the sting out too. Hardazhell has finished seventh each time in his two runs this prep, the last one in the race where My Blue Jeans was second. That said, he was hitting the line.
Bet: My Blue Jeans to win, exacta 13 to beat 6, quinella 6,13
Laguna Seca has got some really appealing numbers for this; 10 career starts for two wins and four placings. Two runs at the Sapphire Coast for a win and a second. Wouldn’t go as far to say he is a mudlark but his win at Nowra and then the Highway run make him hard to go past. That A Boy ran right up to his trials when he resumed with that two and bit lengths win at Queanbeyan. This is harder of course but he’s got a favourable draw again. Trianon has hopes.
Bet: Laguna Seca to win
Reward With A Rose resumes in what is a very nice, and very winnable race for the daughter of Blue Diamond winner, Reward For Effort for the primary reason that her only (so far) was first-up, here, over 1200m and on a Heavy 10. Please note; she won a trial on a Heavy 10 at Albury one day by six. Easement is a really interesting participant here. He went out on a win back in August after running a huge race on a Heavy 8 so maybe ticks that box.
Bet: Reward With A Rose to win, quinella 4,6
