Victorian trainer Matt Laurie will now get the chance to fire a Group 1 double shot in the space of five days with boom filly Treasurethe Moment set to be joined by unbeaten colt Vinrock chasing Sydney’s autumn riches.

Laurie was forced to wait a few extra days to unleash Treasurethe Moment for the first time in Sydney following the decision to reschedule Saturday’s Rosehill Gardens meeting to Tuesday.

She remains a firm $1.60 favourite in the Group 1 $750,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) while Vinrock will step out on Saturday in the Group 1 $1 million Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on day one of The Championships at Royal Randwick.

A date with Saturday week’s Group 1 $1 million Australian Oaks (2400m) also looms for Treasurethe Moment, who had also been in consideration for a crack at the Australian Derby before the meeting was moved.

The daughter of Alabama Express has won seven of her nine starts in Victoria and will attempt to maintain her outstanding form in Sydney.

“The first few days in Sydney she wasn’t so comfortable but she has just got better and better,” Laurie said.

“We were very happy with her going into Saturday, she just started to really bounce.”

Laurie was understanding of Racing NSW stewards’ decision to postpone Saturday’s Group 1 card on raceday morning.

The track was downgraded into the heavy range by 8am with Racing NSW chief steward Steve Railton making a call shortly after.

“We probably all knew it was likely to happen with the rain that was coming down overnight,” Laurie said.

“I think (Steve Railton) said chances are they would only get one or two races done and then it would be off so I think it was the right call.

“It’s still likely to be pretty rain-affected anyway (on Tuesday) we just need it so there is no rain on the day.“

O’Shea, Charlton chase magic at The Championships

Stablemate Vinrock has started his career with a bang, winning his first two starts in his home state.

The son of I Am Invincible was an impressive last start winner of the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington at the beginning of the month.

Laurie brought Vinrock to Sydney last week to give the colt the opportunity to trial clockwise in the lead up to his maiden Group 1 tilt.

“He is a beauty,” Laurie said.

“I was very happy with his trial on Friday. It was good to see him back in the ruck a bit.

“I think it was a worthwhile effort bringing him up because he was a little bit lost going around that turn but when he balanced up, he lengthened nicely.

“It was a beautiful trial for the seven furlongs and then hopefully on to eight (the Champagne Stakes).”

Vinrock is a $6 chance for the Inglis Sires’ in which Golden Slipper runner up Wodeton is the $2.80 favourite.
