Talented hoop Bailey Wheeler is keen to make the most of his opportunities at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
He’s set to hop aboard Sydney mare Elettrica in the feature $160,000 Listed Sunshine Coast Cup.
Elettrica, a six-year-old daughter of Vespa, heads north to Queensland for the first time in her career and Wheeler is eager to see what she can do in the 1400m contest.

“It’s obviously one of the feature races there at the Sunshine Coast so I’d love to win it and I think I’ve got a pretty good chance,” Wheeler said.
“These horses that come up from Sydney always give you plenty of confidence and Richard and Will (Freedman) always prepare their horses well.”
Rain has been anything but absent around southeast Queensland in the last few weeks and Wheeler is hoping the track can get an upgrade into the good range before the 10-race meeting kicks off.
Elettrica best performances have been on fast tracks and he’s hoping she can get that.

“It’s probably the drier the better with her and it seems like it should be that way,” Wheeler said.
“We had some rain the other night but I don’t think we’re getting any more and it should give the track plenty of time to improve.”
Bookies rate Elettrica an $11 chance in betting with Party For Two the $4.40 favourite.
A few races earlier will see Wheeler reunite with promising galloper Consmo Centaurus for his boss, Robert Heathcote.
The duo are one for one and it notably came at the same track and distance they face on Saturday when producing an electric win in August last year.
Wheeler expects the lightly raced son of Cosmic Force to again make his presence felt, albeit against tougher opposition.
They haven’t been handed an easy barrier, drawing the widest possible gate, but Wheeler intends to roll forward on the speedy type.
“He’s a very, very good horse,” Wheeler said.
“Got a tricky barrier to overcome but as he showed on debut, he’s got good early speed so I’m not sure it will matter with him.
“I’d say he’d be pretty hard to beat again.”
Cosmo Centaurus is the $3 second favourite behind Ciaron Maher’s galloper Spywire.
