VALUE

Race 2 No. 10: Otono

INSIDE MAIL - NEWCASTLE

RACE 4: Guardian Safety Solutions Plate (C1) 1900m

Empire Of Art is a German-bred son of Caulfield Cup winning raider, Best Solution. The horse was a Windsor mile winner as a two-year-old in England. The now Chris Waller-trained gelding has run three times in Australia, all of them sevenths. Put this down as D-Day for him now that he is out to 1900m. Garland Of Roses won a 1500m Maiden at Goulburn first-up. She’s by Justify, the grandam Dizelle won the AJC Oaks.

Bet: Empire Of Art each-way, box trifecta 2, 3, 5, 9

RACE 5: Bungree Aboriginal Association Hcp (C1) 1500m

Fire Tribe has been building up to win after three very good runs in some very good quality Class 1s and one Benchmark 64 at Canterbury. The Joe Pride-trained gelding gets to 1500m now, has drawn 5 and gets blinkers back on; bearing in mind he wore them at his only win so far. Speaking of ‘strong races’ Rockbarton Flash has been in four of them and ran exceedingly well each time. Last start winner, blinkers first time, at home.

Bet: Fire Tribe to win, Daily Double 1st leg (1), 2nd Leg (2)

RACE 6: Pirtek Central Coast Midway (Bm64) 900m

Curl Curl finds such a suitable race here that you would swear it was the Paul Perry Handicap. This particular Paul Perry-trained gelding is nothing short of a Newcastle 900m specialist. His record at the track and distance being two wins, two seconds and a third from five goes. Drawn 5, gets Aaron Bullock back on. Shall Be was runner-up to the handy Rantan at this track and trip on debut then came back three weeks later and won over that same short trip.

Bet: Curl Curl to win, exacta 2 to beat 5

RACE 7: Rock At The Races @ Gosford 22 March (Bm64) 1250m

Flying Thinker is a So You Think from nose to tail and talented too. The Peter Snowden-trained mare was ‘3116’ at her first campaign, both wins were on Heavy 10s and one was here at Newcastle. Does that make her a ‘muddie’? We will learn more after this. Summer Soiree is in great form; very reliable all the way through. Has also accepted for Kembla on Saturday. Canny Queen is an interesting filly. She races in the colours of her father Ace High but was ‘fast’ enough to win a 1200m at Wyong on debut.

Bet: Flying Thinker to win

INSIDE MAIL - ORANGE

RACE 5: Angullong Wines Country Boosted Mdn Hcp 1000m

Feimazuo is quite a valuable broodmare proposition given she is a daughter of Shirl Pegasus who ran third in a couple of stakes-races in Sydney and fourth in the Coolmore Classic to Tuesday Joy. Feimazou is trained at Orange; placed four from seven and was fifth at Warwick Farm one day to I Am Famous. Pattera is another local but copped a visitor’s draw. Otherwise likeable. Rosie I Am, Feimazou’s stablemate, is a big watch here on debut.

Bet: Feimazuo to win, Rose I Am to place

RACE 6: Diggermate Orange Hcp (C2) 1400m

Artifactx race is a Gary Portelli and Elite Thoroughbreds galloper just like the mighty Testashadow who picked up $$600,000 this corresponding weekend back in 2017 when he won the Magic Millions Cup. Artifactx has done a creditable job thus far, five placings from nine starts and of course, he is a last start Kembla Maiden winner. Drawn to win again. Grins is a consistent mare from Mudgee who nearly always figures. Ditto that last bit for Giovanna Star.

Bet: Artifactx to win, Daily Double 1st Leg (1), 2nd Leg (1)

RACE 7: Audi Centre Orange (Bm66) 1280m

Zarizatycoon versus his little half-brother, Nomorenightshift. What a rare occurrence and must-see clash this will be. Both horses were unbeaten going into their respective Highways. Zarizatycoon bled in his, Nomorenightshift paid the price for his 15 of 15 draw and worse still, lined-up in an incredibly strong Highway. Not a two horse race but they are two very good horses and the winner will come from one of them in my opinion. Artiebett can place at odds.

Bet: Zarizatycoon to win, exacta 9 to beat 5

RACE 8: Greater’s Water Trucks Hcp (C1) 1280m

Brutal Love has raced six times for an easy Gundagai maiden win, three seconds (one in the Wellington Boot Prelude), a huge third in the $200,000 Inglis Challenge and a fourth in the Wellington Boot itself. Beaten by a handy horse at Bathurst and beaten narrowly at that. Hard To Impress deserved that December 23 Bathurst win, big time. Light Infantry has the form and talent to figure. Looks like we might be losing a lot of these to scratchings. If Bushwalker runs, she is right at home; literally.

Bet: Brutal Love to win
