The new $85m three-track greyhound complex The Q has its first boss with media identity Peter Gleeson poised to take the role.

Peter Gleeson has been revealed as the new CEO of the $85m The Q greyhound track at Purga.

Media identity Peter Gleeson has been handed the reins of Queensland greyhound racing’s state-of-the-art The Q greyhound complex at Purga.

Gleeson will assume the role as chief executive officer of the Greater Brisbane Greyhound Club (GBGC) which will oversee racing at the three-track $85m facility.

The GBGC was formed following the amalgamation of the Brisbane Greyhound Club and Ipswich Greyhound Club which currently conduct racing at Albion Park and Ipswich respectively.

When racing begins in 2025, the facility will be a hive of activity, with racing and trialling to be staged at the venue seven days a week.

The track, the first of its nature, will see straight, one-turn and two-turn racing all staged at the complex in what is a huge boon for the Queensland greyhound industry.

Gleeson, 58, has a long history in greyhound racing, having attended the famous Dapto dogs in his younger years.

Over the years, Gleeson has served in a range of media roles, but regardless of his post, has always stayed heavily involved in greyhound racing, mainly via ownership.

Gleeson currently hosts the drive slot on Brisbane radio station 4BC between 3pm and 6pm daily.

More affectionately known as “Questions”, the nickname became better known in the late 1990s when Dennis Reid named his former champion sprinter Questions after Gleeson.
