Peter and Paul Snowden continued their recent Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) dominance when Ka Bling surged out of the pack to capture the $200,000 feature at Grafton on Wednesday.

The Snowdens are set to dissolve their training partnership at the end of this season but helped conclude the successful era on a high note with the family’s sixth Ramornie Handicap in 14 years.

Peter Snowden won the race back-to-back with Pinwheel (2010) and Jerezana (2011) while he and Paul also captured the coveted country sprint with Calanda (2017), Signore Fox (2020) and Ranges (2022).

Ka Bling added to the love affair when the talented five-year-old did his best work late to score with help from a perfect Andrew Adkins steer.

Adkins had Ka Bling ($19) on the fence before working through a hole inside the final furlong and edging out the Richard Litt-trained Bacchanalia ($51) while the Snowdens’ Tashi ($8) did her best work late to finish close up in third.

“It is a good kick-along for Andy (Adkins) to get that win and it was a good ride and the horse was very tough,” Peter Snowden said.

“He is one that has kept on improving with every preparation.

“He was an average horse as two and three-year-old but he has got through to stakes level and to win a race like the Ramornie is a great reward for him.

“It has been a great race to us and to win it for the sixth time is very satisfying.”

Ka Bling had been a runner-up in a Listed Barton Stakes at Caulfield in January before breaking through for his maiden stakes victory six months later.

The son of the Snowdens’ former star Capitalist is now less than $20,000 shy of the half million dollar mark in prizemoney earned with a record of seven wins and 11 placings from 29 starts.

Ramornie Handicap favourite Pereille ($1.95) was caught three-deep before running home for fifth.
