HAWKESBURY INSIDE MAIL
RACE 1: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1500m)
Literature Tycoon was very unlucky here last start. Taken back to last and was held up for most of the straight only getting clear late when fourth behind Noises beaten less than a length. With clear running from the top of the straight, he would have gone very close. Can settle closer from a good draw. Irish Anthem got back and was pushed wide on the bend before making ground in the straight when sixth in that same race. Torie’s Rose come out of that race too when second.
Bet: Literature Tycoon to win
RACE 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300m)
Mayne pushed up to take the lead near the 800m and fought on gamely in the straight before being caught on the line when third to Shohisha and Pinito on debut over 1300m at Warwick Farm. Drawn the outside gate so will need a touch of luck but will be better for the experience. Cavendish is a debutant by Capitalist from the Snowden yard. Closed nicely when fourth to Amelita in his Randwick trial on Aug 30. Rugby was narrowly beaten on debut at Canterbury in June.
Bet: Mayne to win
RACE 3: CG&E MAIDEN PLATE (1100m)
Chiba is a first starter by Exceed And Excel and a half to stakes winner Empire Of Japan. Led and scored a nice win from Llewellyn in his Randwick trial on Aug 19 before a close second to California Bay in his Aug 30 heat. Motorbike is also on debut. By Epaulette, he is out of a daughter of Mannington. Extended nicely to win his Aug 26 trial here. Dashing Rupert is another first starter. By Winning Rupert, he has been good winning his two recent trials at Warwick Farm.
Bet: Chiba to win
RACE 4: F&M MAIDEN PLATE (1100m)
Celerity copped a severe bump at the start and lost ground before finishing just over a half-length away in third to Enriched when resuming at Warwick Farm. Fleeting Spirit is a debutant by Per Incanto from the Ryan and Alexiou yard. Hit the line under a hold when fourth to Amelita in her Aug 20 Rosehill trial before a second to Bremel on Sept 5 after being held up. Gangsta Granny will be improved by her debut third to Aeliana on the Kensington on Aug 14.
Bet: Celerity to win
RACE 5: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600m)
Copacabana showed enough in placing at his first three starts to tackle the Caulfield Guineas. That was his only unplaced run so far. Went back after a slow start and made ground for third to Bauhinia at Newcastle first-up before a good win from Wexford Miss there over 1400m. Pasima was held up early in the straight when third to There There first-up at Warwick Farm. His only unplaced run was also in Group company. Pleasure Artist followed a close fourth on debut with a narrow win from Lugarno at Kembla.
Bet: Copacabana to win
RACE 6: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2000m)
Koning is knocking on the door after placings at his last three starts. Was third to Fioprospero in a Class 1 at Newcastle then second to Fun Sunday at Kembla. Stepped up to a Midway at Rosehill when a close third to Promitto. Drawn to get a nice run. Fakhra finally broke through with a good win at Newcastle last time out. Will take confidence from that victory. Highborn Harry won over 2100m at Gosford three stats back and was placed over 1800m here last start.
Bet: Koning to win
RACE 7: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1100m)
Sunrise copped severe interference a couple of times in the straight and was never tested to the line when ninth to Alabama State at her Australian debut here on Aug 22. Was going well enough to be in the money. Opal Fields won her maiden smartly at Newcastle before a close second at Goulburn in February. Had no luck her next two starts before a spell. Recent trials have been good without being pressured. Oryx drops in grade from his fourth to Hi Dubai at Canterbury.
Bet: Sunrise each-way
RACE 8: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1400m)
House Of Cards scored a smart win here first-up before a third to the talented Yorkshire at Warwick Farm. Drawn well and can claim a third career win. Threatening followed a second-up win over 1300m here with a third to the progressive Komodo Dragon over 1400m at Kembla. Blinkers go on and expect him to be prominent again. Carpaccio is consistent and won’t be far away again.
Bet: House Of Cards to win
