Hidden for decades, these extraordinary The Southport School rugby photos show future Wallabies when they were just teenagers dreaming of representing their country.

The Gold Coast Bulletin’s photography archives have offered a stunning glimpse into the rugby history of The Southport School, including many images which have never seen the light of day until now.

The earliest photo from our online archive was the school’s 1980 First XV, featuring the late Queensland State of Origin great Peter Jackson.

Flashback images of future Wallabies Nathan Sharpe and Mat Rogers from the 1990s and the mighty First XVs of the mid-to-late ‘Noughties, featuring more future Wallabies like Rob Simmons, James Slipper and Ben Tapua’i, were among the exciting discoveries.
