Talented tall Sam De Koning has recomitted to Geelong for another two seasons as the Cats’ signing spree continues.
De Koning was out of contract at the end of 2025 but has penned an extension until the end of 2027, when he will first enter free agency.
The 24-year-old is the latest Cat to re-sign in the past month, joining Brad Close (2028), Jeremy Cameron (2027), Ollie Henry (2027), Shannon Neale (2028) and Toby Conway (2027).
Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie is excited to see De Koning in the hoops for at least another two years.
“Sam is a quality person and player, and we are really pleased he has re-signed with us,” Mackie said.
“We look forward to seeing Sam continue to develop as a footballer and flourish alongside our core group of young, emerging players.”
His signing comes as his brother Tom De Koning weighs up his future at Carlton.
Sam De Koning has been entrusted with Geelong’s No.1 ruck role this season with mixed results, starring in the Cats’ round one win over Fremantle but tactically subbed out of Geelong’s loss to Brisbane last Staurday.
Ollie Dempsey and Shaun Mannagh both come out of contract at the end of the season and shape as Mackie’s top priorities, with a host of veterans and untried youngsters also unsigned.
