Brisbane’s pubs and sports clubs are readying for a mammoth weekend as the festival of footy finals takes over the city.

Carina Leagues Club said their Sidelines sports bar staff are prepping ahead of a huge Friday night for the Broncos’ qualifying final showdown against Melbourne Storm.

General manager Adam Wiencke said there was an air of excitement as “we’re huge Broncos fans here”.

“We’re expecting a huge crowd drawing in all our local community members to unite and watch the boys battle against the Storm,” he said.

Sporting Globe at Westfield Chermside has over 100 bookings for tonight.

Assistant venue manager Mere Martin said that on top of the 110 bookings so far, an AFL team has booked their function room, filling the venue with footy fans.

“Finals season obviously with two Brisbane teams playing, it’s made our bookings quite heavy,” she said.

“We haven’t done too much advertisement around it either, people have just been booking well in advance.”
