Argentinian fans have descended onto the steps of the Sydney Opera House as celebrations continue following their beloved football team’s historic win at the World Cup in Qatar.
The streets teemed with a sea of blue and white, as fans who have waited 36 years revelled in their latest win.
Argentina were crowned world champions after defeating France in a penalty shootout.
The two teams had drawn 3-3 in what’s being considered by many as one of the best World Cup final in history.
Thousands of Argentinian fans dressed in their national colours and gathered at the Sydney Opera House to watch the historic win.
Fans erupted with drums, horns and cheers as Gonzalo Montiel scored the final penalty and secured the win.
Between a sea of tears and excitement, fans said they planned to party throughout the day and into the night.
One fan told Sky News he was “really, really happy” and “very emotional” about their beloved team winning.
“Messi deserved this more than anyone, so this is justice from football to Argentina,” he said.
Another fan explained to Sky News there was now no discussion about how good a player Lionel Messi really is.
“Everyone is excited finally justice in football we got the third one finally we got the third one there is no more discussion we have the GOAT, the greatest of all time Lionel Messi, no more debate,” he said.
