Some of Australia’s leading professional and amateur photographers are in the running to win the Women In Sport Photo Action Awards for 2024 with a stunning selection of images from an incredible year of women’s sport.

Over 100 photographers entered the sixth edition of the annual awards, with the FIFA Women’s World Cup, AFLW and athletics the most popular sports among the entries.

WISPAA judges reduced the professional and amateur photo of the year finalists down to 15 images in each category, with the FIFA World Cup making up seven of the top 30 frames while 16 sports were featured across all the finalists including the three “Emerging category”.

“What a joy it was to re-live some of the magic moments from the last year in sport through the lens of some very talented photographers,” said Women’s Sport Australia President Helena Dorczak.

“We were looking for photos that showcased the athleticism, strength and skill of women participating in sport, and the finalists selected deliver that in spades.”

The winners will be announced on May 30 at the exhibition event in Sydney, but the public has the chance to vote for their favourite professional and amateur photograph in the People’s Choice Award presented by Code Sports.

Code Sports has selected the five best images in each category, as determined by one of our experienced editors, for readers to vote for the People’s Choice award.
