FORMER Arsenal centre-back Martin Keown believes Laurent Koscielny is in the same class as the club’s legendary defenders Tony Adams and Sol Campbell.

FORMER Arsenal centre-back Martin Keown believes Laurent Koscielny is in the same class as the club’s legendary defenders Tony Adams and Sol Campbell.

Koscielny will be part of the Arsenal squad travelling to Sydney to play two pre-season friendlies against Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers at ANZ Stadium. It’s the first time in 40 years the Gunners will make the trip Down Under.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Keown described what it was like playing alongside Adams and Campbell and the former defender was also full of praise for Koscielny.

“Well, he’s the player I enjoy watching most of all because he’s got kind of an ABS brakes the way that he stops, changes direction,” Keown said.

“He’s got great pace, he’s good in the air. Technically, he’s as good as anybody … He’s really important to Arsenal and the club at the moment.”
