THE Roar will host Melbourne City on November 17 in the first of three A-League matches Brisbane will play at Dolphin Stadium in their 2019-20 campaign.
As revealed last month by The Courier-Mail, the Roar’s three games at the Redcliffe venue will played on Sunday afternoons.
City’s November visit will be confirmed today when the A-League season draw is unveiled.
It won’t be the first time the Roar have met City at the 10,000-capacity stadium.
The teams clashed in a 2018 FFA Cup round of 32 match 12 months ago, with City prevailing 1-0 in front of 6151 fans thanks to a last-minute extra-time goal from Bruno Fornaroli.
City also played at Dolphin Oval in 2017, beating current NPL Queensland club Peninsula Power 2-0, again in a Cup round of 32 clash.
With the A-League expanding to 11 teams with the introduction on Victorian club Western United, there has been speculation that the Roar will have the bye in the October 11-13 opening round.
However it has also been rumoured Brisbane will in action in round one away from home against Perth Glory, one of two A-League clubs Roar coach Robbie Fowler played for.
The Roar are also meeting Perth in the pre-season Surf City Cup on August 30 at Carrara’s Croatian Sports Centre, the home of the NPL Queensland club Gold Coast Knights.
Meanwhile, former Roar marquee man Eric Bautheac has signed with Cypriot outfit AC Omonia.
The 31-year-old French winger, whose two-year Brisbane contract expired at the end of last season, had been linked with a move to Melbourne Victory.
However, Bautheac has reportedly become the highest paid player in Cyprus by turning down approaches from French clubs Toulouse and Brest to join Omonia.
“I’m really happy … and I’m ready to play with my new teammates,” Bautheac told OFCtv.
“I’ll work hard and I’m sure we can do better than last season for Omonia.”
Omonia finished last season in sixth spot, 34 points behind Cypriot champions APOEL.
Another of the Roar’s former imports, midfielder enforcer Thomas Kristensen, has signed a one-year contract with Danish second division club Helsingor.
“I just had to find out if I wanted to continue to play football, but it quickly seemed like a good match, both sporting and geographical,” 36-year-old Kristensen told www.tipsbladet.dk.
