The shot stopper first denied Bruce Kamau with a reflex save after a nice curling ball from Adam Troisi got the Wanderers star in behind the defence.

After the ball popped up as it floated towards the goal, Federici desperately screamed back to keep it out as Kamau and a defender fought for the ball just centimetres from the line.

After the ball bobbled up again, Federici gave a desperate lunge while lying on the floor to keep the ball out for a third time.

His push landed near the feet of a Wanderers player wide of the goals and a rebounding shot struck a defender.

The ball fell nicely for Tate Russell who cannoned a shot directly at the goal, only for Federici to get a faint touch, sending the ball crashing into the bar.

The moment was typically, brilliantly called by Fox Sports commentator Brenton Speed.

“It’s in surely,” Speed said after the first save.

“Federici, he kept it out, did he? He did not, did he? It’s back off the bar. Can you believe what you just saw?

“There’s no goal for Western Sydney and I don’t know how.”

Sports commentator Ray Gatt posted on Twitter about Federici’s heroics: “Whatever he did, he’s a magician! Brilliant stuff”.

A highlights clip of the mad scramble was posted on the A-League’s official Twitter profile — with more than 250,000 views on Sunday morning.

The video also had more than 200,000 views on a Saudi Arabian football broadcast page and another 200,000 views on BT Sport in the UK.

On an incredible night of action, a late scorpion kick assist from Keanu Baccus to the back post found allowed Simon Cox to get the Wanderers back to 2-2.

Early Federici was beaten by Graham Dorrans when he was sprung a mile off his line and the Scottish midfielder produced a sweet chip kick to leave Federici in no-man’s land.
