The Roar will honour former Brisbane star Liam Miller when they host Perth Glory at Dolphin Stadium on Saturday.
To mark Miller’s passing from pancreatic cancer two years ago, Roar players will wear black armbands adorned with 11, the number the Irishman wore during his time with Brisbane.
Miller was 36 when he died on February 9, 2018 just a couple of months after his battle with cancer was revealed.
“At the start I didn’t realise how bad it was,” said Roar fullback Jack Hingert, who won an A-League championship with Miller in season 2014.

“You hear the stories about people getting through it, and he was such a healthy guy, very professional with his diet, very strict on what he ate and what he didn’t eat.
“It was heartbreaking when we found out about it, and the way it went from there was even worse, especially for his wife Clare and their kids as well.
“I can’t imagine what they went through.”
Adding significance to Saturday’s match is that Miller, who had stints with Celtic, Manchester United, Sunderland and Hibernian, before coming to Australia, joined the Roar from the Glory.
“He was pretty quiet, had great manners, very polite, but the more you got to know him, the more he came out of his shell,” Hingert said. “He was a great footballer, very talented, but just the person he was, he was a top guy.
“His Irish accent used to make us laugh, as well as some of the jokes he came out with.
“Us as a group, we talk about him, we still remember him. Every year we try to do something and pay our respect to him and his family.
“When you win a championship together it’s a bond that not that many people have.”
