BRISBANE became the laughing stock of world football after several kit numbers peeled off during their shock loss to Filipino team Ceres-Negros. The Roar have just pointed the blame squarely on one man.

CRAIG Moore’s time as Brisbane Roar football director has come a premature end after he was blamed for the kit fiasco in the club’s humiliating 3-2 AFC Champions League playoff loss to Filipino team Ceres-Negros on Tuesday night.

Moore last week quit as football director but was set to stay on until mid-March to assist coach John Aloisi with player contracts.

But the Socceroos stalwart confirmed that Roar vice chairman Chris Fong has put him on leave for the remainder of his notice period.

Moore was blamed for the shambolic kit debacle that had numbers peeling off the back of jerseys belonging to Eric Bautheac, Ivan Franjic and Jamie Young.

DEADLINE: Roar stick with Aloisi - for now

The farcical situation led to Bautheac having the spend more than five minutes off the field as the Roar staff made a fruitless search for another No.22 jersey despite the usual protocol being each player having two jerseys in their kit bag.

Bautheac was forced to wear a No.77 jersey with bits of tape used to make the sevens look like twos before being allowed back on the pitch.

“Our club disappointed many people and embarrassed ourselves with the presentation of numbering on our orange jersey,” a Roar statement said.

“This was of no fault of BRFC kit manufacturer Umbro.”
